Thanks Djamila! I give him pumpkin 1 tbsp. in each meal it does help with constipation and diarrhea. And I have read that it is good for diabetes. I am so hoping he gets better ASAP. He could have gotten into something outside that didn't agree with him, like maybe a bad mouse???
Yes, pumpkins helps with both diarrhea and constipation. Since Bubba goes between the two, I give it in every meal now. Glad that you are having his teeth taken care of. Then you can take tooth pain and/ or inflammation out of the equation when and if the numbers are high. When Jasper was throwing up, was there any hair balls? And yes, the throwing up really stresses them out and causes the numbers to be high. Bubba went from 4 days of diarrhea to a perfectly normal poop and now today hasn't had a poop yet......catsWait, pumpkin helps with that?? I wonder if Jasper was going through the same thing! Friday evening he puked and his BG was well over 400 and through the weekend until I upped his dose a 1/2 unit. He was sticking between 400-500+! He had diarrhea and might still have it, he puked about 8 times over the weekend and was hiding out in my sons room and the closet and was hardly eating. But he wasn't nearly as sick as his DKA episode..he was still alert, up walking around, drinking water, everything normal but the eating and finding a room to rest in. Last night he was up and running around like a crazy kitty playing with his mouse and our other cat. I thought it may have been tummy troubles but also thought maybe it had something to do with his teeth and becoming resistant. So I finally made Jasper an appointment for today and had his teeth taken care of! In a few hours I will pick him up. Phew
Having belly aches and diarrhea can cause his stress to go up from feeling bad and maybe causing his sugar to go up?poor bubba hope he feels better soon.ibd can effect the whole body sometimes.I posted on Health too. This morning at 4:30 AM EST, Bubba jumped down off the bed and hacked up a small hairball the size of a nickel. When he jumped back up on the bed, his stomach was making squeaking and gurgling sounds. Of course, I didn't get back to sleep. At 6:00 I test him and he is at 582! He has never been that high before. I checked the litter box and there is diarrhea. He ate fine, wanted to go out, but momma said "NO"! and he seems fine otherwise. Aggravated because I won't let him out.
The only other experience I have with that squeaking noise was with my dog when she had gastritis. I had to give her an extra small snack before bedtime and Pepcid for a while. If this was gastritis or an IBD episode, (which the vet suspected before that he has IBD) would it cause the numbers to jump like this? The night before last he was in the greens and now the blacks!??? Yikes, can't feel good.
Probiotics are good too and makes the poops less stinky.lolHaving belly aches and diarrhea can cause his stress to go up from feeling bad and maybe causing his sugar to go up?poor bubba hope he feels better soon.ibd can effect the whole body sometimes.
Oh my mom told keopectate has stopped putting aspirin products in some of their diarrhea medicines.you can give that to them too.i use to give it to my Siamese when she had horrible stomach problems.Probiotics are good too and makes the poops less stinky.lol
