So, I wanted to find out different ideas from people who have gone on vacation and have a diabetic cat at home. I was so used to putting dry food out and tons of water snd having a family member stop in and check on my cats but with one now having diabetes... it really makes things hard. I will only be gone for 4 days. I do not have the money to put Sweetie in a kennel and besides that, he would HATE that I know! So what are my options? What if he misses a dose or 2 in the mornings? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you

My cat J.D. goes on vacations with me. My neighbor and I switch pet sitting duties for each other's cats, so when we're gone she feeds and looks in on my other cat.

I hire a petsitter who shoots insulin. They are more common now. She has to come twice a day and so she also feeds all my cats at both visits since I no longer serve dry food in my house to any of my cats. I pay dearly for this but at least I can have some peace while on vacation. Kitty care $$ is part of my vacation budget - if I don't have it, I don't go.

I have a friend that is a nurse that also pet sits, so she will test, feed & shoot. I also have about 4 back up friends trained to test, feed & shoot and they text me when they get to the house, tell me his number and I tell them whether to give insulin or not.

3 of my 6 are on meds, so I need someone to stay in the house and monitor things. I don't go away very often, but sometimes you just need a vacation!
