Hello, need some advice while I go on vacation.
Per the SLGS, Maui would have required a dose increase to 2 units of Basaglar this week. However, I'm dropping him off at my sister's Wednesday evening (4/26) and will pick him up Friday evening the following week (5/5). Should I keep his dose at 1.75 or increase to 2? He hasn't been dropping significantly on 1.75. Looks like his sweet spot will probably be somewhere between 2 and 3 units.
Some additional info: Maui will get all his meals and shots. I bought an automatic feeder as my sister won't be there for 4 afternoon meals. I'm also hoping he won't be hiding when he has to get his breakfast and morning shot, that's my worry as my brother in law needs to get to work. My sister works evenings, so the days she's there she will see him before she leaves for work. I will give them the glucometer and everything to test, however, I don't expect them to test. My sister is in her last month of pregnancy so I don't think she'll be wrestling Maui for a blood test. If something were to happen and Maui doesn't look good, I'm sure they would probably try to test then. And they also have a vet nearby that also turns into an emergency vet after hours. They had a diabetic cat who passed about 6 years ago so they understand how things work. They never tested frequently like we do here though, maybe just when he wasn't looking good. Even so, he lived for many years with diabetes. Also, Maui has never been at her house before, so it's a new environment. I'm assuming he'll probably be kept in a room separate from her other cats. She has three and the two brothers don't get along with her older girl so they are usually separated when no one is home. We'll see how Maui does with her boys first.
Thanks for any tips or advice.
