UTI - when to go in?

It's Friday evening, and our non-diabetic cat is showing signs of a urinary tract infection.
She is restless and visiting the box often, and straining. There is a little blood in her urine.
I know they don't do it on purpose, by why can't cats ever have these things come up on Tuesday morning, instead of late nights and weekends?!

She struggled with stones as a kitten/young cat, but since we've had her on a high moisture/low purine diet, we haven't had problems in years.
The big question is, take her to the emergency vet, or wait until her vet is available on Monday? The last time we took her to the ER vet for this (years ago), we waited two miserable hours with a yowling cat in the waiting, room, then he saw us for about 5 minutes, gave her a shot of antibiotics, and told us to take her to the vet on Monday. For that, he charged $2000. Turns out it wasn't bacterial, so the antibiotics weren't helpful at all. In the end, I felt like the stress of it all did her much more harm than good.

I know female cats are less susceptible to this turning life-threatening than male cats, but there is still concern.
For those of you who deal with UTIs often, how do you make the call about when to go to the vet? And any tips for helping her be more comfortable at home?

I would take her in tonight. She may have a blockage and that could be turn bad very quickly. I know male cats usually have a problem with crystals, but I have had it develop in my female cats also. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Very very seldom do female cats become blocked. Based on the past problem she could have kidney/bladder stones since they typically cause blood in the urine.
Stones are usually painful so I would take her in now.
