UTI Info

Hi,
I'm trying to get some information on UTI. When I did a search I came up with so many posts that, after going through about 30 or so, realized I'm not going to do well trying to get information this way. I'm wanting to know what signs to look for UTI? My cat, Chong (female), has been going to the litter box often and just going a little. Something to worry about? Is there any home test I can do to check for UTI? How dangerous is a UTI? Always medical interaction or can it clear up on it's own?

Thanks for this info. I was too overwhelmed to wade through all the posts on this subject. I also didn't find a link to any information. If I missed it, would you mind posting it?

If a cat is symptomatic, then it's not likely the UT issues will resolve on their own. A vet visit is in order if you suspect something is wrong.

Is the cat eating a canned only diet? The usual cause of UT problems is chronic dehydration caused by dry food. A cat prone for UT problems should not be eating any dry food at all. But you can feed any commercial food, as long as it's canned, and the prescription diets are not necessary.

If she is on a canned diet, stress can cause UT problems, especially in older females.
