Hi everyone - I am trying to find a better way for me to fully utilize the cat food nutrition chart.

I find it very annoying to use it as a Google sheet online because all the headers and browser stuff takes up way too much room on my laptop screen. And I find the functionality of sorting and filtering to be less powerful on Sheets than Excel. There are so many foods on the list that I wouldn't even consider (or that may not be available locally), and I'd rather they not even show up when I'm using the chart on my own.

I tried downloading as an Excel spreadsheet and enabling editing, but the Sort option remains grayed out. I have the suspicion that the sheet is in Protected status, but I would like to be able to turn that off once I have my own copy on my computer, so that I can fully sort and filter to my preferences.

Anyone have the scoop on this?

It only comes up as a PDF for me - I just use the search function to quick find what I need. I also took advantage of the color printer at work and just printed it out and spiral-bound it so I have a hard copy.

Hi! You can sort in a shared document on Google Sheets.

First, you need to create a "Filter View". Go to Data > Filter Views > Create new temporary filter view
Now, every column has a little three line triangle on it - click on it and you get a menu of options.

Also, I had success downloading as an *.xlsx file (File > Download) and editing in Numbers (I'm on a Mac) - but it let me add my own filter and frankly do whatever I wanted. If that's not working in Excel, you could download try downloading as a *.csv and import then to Excel.

Hope that helps some - the food list is so valuable!

Yes, great info! I didn't realize that the Filter view would allow me to simply uncheck different brands from the list.

And smart suggestion on trying csv and converting - worked perfectly!
