Hello again. I have a 4 year old cat, Mafalda. at the blood exams we had 3 months ago we found out that she has high level of glucose. My vet then only said that we ll monitor her and she started eating royal canin diabetic. I dont find something odd at her behavior but she also has gum problems and she from time to time cant eat dry food. We went to another vet and in order to give us cortisone for the gums she gave me an urine test strip to measure her glucose. she said to me that after 2 minutes the result will show. From yesterday I've done the test twice and I have the same results. for the first 2 HOURS the tests were yellow (normal) but then they change colour and became dark...is this ever happened to you or I just did the whole procedure wrong????? the question is for how long time is the test result right?
p.s. excuse my english for one more time.

hello Ann, I'm writing from Greece. The problem is that at the first 2 hours the test color turned out yellow (normal) but then is half yellow and half dark... confused_cat

I wonder what test strips you have? Do you have the name of the brand?

No strips should take 2 hours to show any changes, Only 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the brand.

My urine test strips are made by Accu-Check and called Keto-Diabur_Test 5000, and only takes 2 minutes, to change colour.

It sounds like you are supposed to 'read' the strip at 2 minutes after
getting the urine on it.

Any color changes after that time (2 minutes) should be ignored.

But I would call your vet and ask for confirmation of what I just said.

I believe so too Karen!!! thank you both so much. Of course I'll ask my vet but now is on vacation...
