Several days ago, I had a post here about my cat Lewis (dx 2/5) and his vomiting problem: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=36468

Here are a few updates:

Thanks to all your help, he finally stops vomiting! After closely observing his behaviors, I could kinda tell that he hated the medications and tried to get it out of his stomach. Also, he always vomited in the mornings--maybe that's due to the stomach acid? So I got up in the middle of the night to give him an extra meal--it worked!!! He has NOT been vomiting since I did that extra-night-meal thing.

I also managed to do hometesting and made him a spreadsheet. His AMPS/PMPS number remains in the 200s. My vet said we should not change the current dosage (1U PZI 2X/day) and encouraged me to do his BG curve this coming weekend to see if we need any dosage adjustment. Well, my experience with ear pricking might be a bit different from others. For me, the first time was the easiest and the most successful one, and it's getting tougher...because now Lewis knows what it means when I touch his ear, and would try his best to run away...Any suggestions?

Symptom wise, Lewis is doing a great job--normal amount of drinking and urination (2-3 urinations/day); very active, can always see him running around and jumping everywhere (even onto the kitchen counter top... ).

Now here comes my questions:

How often should cats poo? I haven't seen any stool from Lewis for 48 hours. Should I be worried? I asked my vet, he told me to wait another day, if still nothing, give him Propulsid--but I'm really hesitant to do that, because he vomited every time he had Propulsid.

He's eating raw rabbit meat + Nature's Variety grain-free can food right now. Wet food should NOT cause constipation, should it?

Thanks a lot.

answering last question first -- when you are feeding such good food -- poop output is smaller.

Some cats do get constipated, and you could try adding some Miralax to his food.

Try to make testing time about fun and loving. Many here give treats. I have not found that necessary, but give lots of loving, scritches and praise at test time. I pet Tiggy's head with my little fingers while holding his ear between thumb and index finger. -- Helps keep him distracted while I'm waiting for the blood drop.

Thank you!

So good food does cause smaller poop output...Great to know! That's why my other cat Timbra (civvie, but eating the same food) only had one stool in the last two days.

Will try to add more fun for the testing next time...I really really wish there would be a glucometer telling us our cat's BG from reading their fur.......that would make our life soooooo much easier. ;-)
