Does anyone know if there is a more up to date pdf on the caloric breakdown of cat food? The one on catinfo.org is 3 years old now.

Dry food isn't good for diabetic cats (it's actually not good for any cat)....Most of it is too high in carbs and just feeding dry causes the body to be more dehydrated which is harder on the kidneys

Lots of great info on www.catinfo.org

my vet has them on a wet and dry food they are both to help them maintain there weight.I have another cat her name is dottie and iam trying to keep her from getting it.

there's nothing "special" in those prescription diet foods....as a matter of fact, a LOT of cats actually gain weight on them!!

My two civvies (non-diabetic) cats were both fat when China was diagnosed and I changed her diet to low carb canned (and that's all they got too!)....the both lost the extra weight and are much healthier now

Plain old Friskies pates worked wonders

Vet dry is not good. If you are in the US and still want to feed try either Evo, Wysong or Young Again zero carb. Evo and Wysong you can get at stores you can only get young again online.

Both my cats were on prescription dry and they both got UTI's and both were diagnosed diabetics. I started moving towards changing to the prescription wet and when I did thankfully I was home testing because the amount of insulin I was giving was making both hypo. I will never, ever go back to prescription dry or wet ever!
