Percent of calories from carbs....6.0

California Natural Chicken and Brown rice

Percent of calories from carbs....30.8 (I had no idea..no wonder my guy got DM and another suspected) I have to figure how to wean them off and on to EVO

I know the effect of wet vrs dry. I have twenty cats..I can't do all wet. I give them all wet EVO "0" carbs in the morning and evening. I give my DM guy two more additional wet feedings than the others. I have two put him in a dog crate while he east the extra wet vittles.

I more or less just wanted everyone to see the numbers I got from Nutura today.

Even though the EVO dry is lower in carbs, it is still problematic, which is why we recommend a low carb, canned diet unless you have no other option. Check out this web site on feline nutrition: http://catinfo.org/ The lower carb dry foods will still keep some cats blood sugar higher even though they are below 10% due to the high starch content (dry food has to use some sort of starch in order to bind it together.) Also, diabetes isn't the only disease caused by dry food. Cats need moisture with their food--no matter how much you think they drink they never compensate for the lost moisture, and that contributes to Urinary Tract and Kidney disease. It's best to prevent those conditions before they happen by feeding a canned diet.

If you're having trouble switching them to canned, there's some great advice here: http://catinfo.org/#Transitioning_Dry_Food_Addicts_to_Canned_Food_
