Thelma & Sinbad
I'm sad to report that Sinbad had another critical episode this morning and has been admitted to the animal hospital. After leaving the vet yesterday, his take home instructions was to give an injection despite the fact he was a critical low of 30 at then vet's office and not coming up much after coming home! I was very much against giving the shot last night, but was afraid of something else would happen if he did not have his insulin shot. I awoke at 3:00 a.m. to a barely breathing Sinbad. He was taken immediately to the ER where is level was a critical 25. This go around, he was taken to my step-daughter's vet because at this point, I don't trust anything Sinbad's doctor recommends. The new vet suggested that Sinbad may not need insulin at all and in fact, she suspects he is not diabetic. They are doing a series of tests and will keep him overnight to monitor. I share this story so that anyone else in this situation can learn, just because your current vet renders a diagnosis of diabetes, you may need a second opinion before sending your precious baby down a road I sent Sinbad. I praise God for everyone on this website, much has been learned and hopefully I can return that from this experience.
