Got a number this morning after 4 tries. 1 every hour.
Gave him 1.0u Lantus.

To me you are all 'angels' and very knowledgeable (other post on experts) and I value your experience/expertise and patience. As soon as our Internet connection gets going I'll get the spreadsheet up!

249 is still very good. If you can get another couple BG checks today to see how low he goes, that would be helpful.

Do you need some home-testing tips? One thing that can work miracles is treats. Freeze dried treats are safe for diabetic cats, my cats love these: http://www.thecatconnection.com/cats/wildside-salmon-freeze-dried.html You have to get them online I think, I've never seen them in a store, although Petco/Petsmart have other brands of freeze dried meats for cats. Plain cooked chicken works well for some people too.

You are essentially training your cat to tolerate the time it takes for you to get a test. So you reward them each time they do something right, like sit still. If they shake their head and fuss, they don't get a treat. Most cats learn very quickly what they are doing that rewards them and what doesn't. It takes repetition and consistency though. I recommend taking the cat in a bathroom so they can't get away, make the counter in to a testing table.

You can also simply use the treats as a distraction. Put down several treats and get the test while they are busy munching. That's probably the quickest way to train them.

Thanks. That's what I finally did this morning was a treat. Before didn't use them.
