Update On Tyler

Diane Tyler's Mom GA

Member Since 2018
Hi everyone most of you know Tyler, he's still doing very well. He's still in you know what, don't want to jinx it :p
Since his brother Perry passed in Oct he has become more affectionate, he was always a loner
My poor Perry, he will always be my #1, we had a special bond.
Don't get me wrong I love Tyler to bits
He has this new routine now, makes me follow him into the kitchen and wants me to pick him up and hold him for awhile, kisses me on the face.
Then wants to get down and just keep petting him
This is no fun at 2 or 3 AM

Now he lays on Ashley's bed which he never did
He will still attack my ankles if I try to brush him to long.
So I stop and walk away and he will run after me. Nasty Tyler :p

Don't remember if I mentioned my dad has Alzheimer's and is in a nursing home since Nov 2020
Also had a mini stroke. The place we found for him is wonderful.
We made sure of that.
We get to visit him once a week, my sister goes one week, then my brother the next, then me
He knows who we all are, it's just that he has:bighug::bighug: good and bad days. Gets confused sometimes
Will tell us that he got out if there but they caught him and brought him back, stuff like that
So we just go along with him

Now we can visit anytime in the Lobby for 45 minutes Monday thru Sat. At least we can see him more often

It breaks my heart and makes me sick to my stomach that this happened to him
He was such a tough guy.
It's funny the one person he never forgets to ask about is Ashley
He's been like a father too her from day one
She hasn't been able to see him yet , she's been doing very bad with the dam chronic pain disease she has for 17 years now
Most of you know what she has and cannot be around noise so she couldn't go see him in his room because the floor he's on is very noisy which sets off her pain in her ears, face, and head.

So when she's feeling a little better we plan to have her see him in the lobby where it's quiet
She is sick over this, him being there.
I know she's going to break down when she sees him.

She actually has to wear a winter coat with the hood on when she has to go to doctor visits because just a breeze sets off the pain. So she has been in the house for 17 years other than going to doctor visits because how can you escape noise

So between Ashley and my dad I sometimes get really overwhelmed.
I just want to jump out a window, don't worry I won't
Thank God I have my xanax :p

Well that's about it, I pray for all the kitties every night that aren't feeling well , as well as their moms and dads to be strong
My heart breaks for all of them when they are not feeling well

I'm on the board everyday checking on all of you, so will talk to you all there♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Diane, you are a precious woman. I love hearing about Tyler, and his more loving ways, now that he is THE cat.
My dad has vascular dementia and cannot care for himself. My mom has early A (my parents are not married). It is So so hard watching our parents lose their good minds.
Ashley has lots of prayers for more good days, and fewer bad ones. I pray when she sees your dad, it will be emotionally beautiful for them both.
Xoxoxo

Hi Diane, although I know about all you mentioned here, this post is filled with emotion not just facts. Life throws us so many challenges and like they say (whoever “they” is :bookworm:) that it’s how we deal with them that matters. You are a strong, loving, caring, involved, mom, cat mom, daughter, sister and friend. I so admire how well you deal with each day, each challenge. We all get down, sometimes feel we just want to give up, some days it feels like it’s too much of a load to bear :nailbiting: but you just carry on, you have no choice. You have a strong beautiful spirit and I am so glad you are my friend. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Aww Adrienne I'm so glad we are friends also :bighug:
Believe me there are a lot of days I don't deal with things very well.
I get very angry.
Like you said I have no choice ♥

Hi Jan I'm so sorry to hear about your parents, it really does suck
Yes Tyler thinks he's the man now :p
When he gets on my nerves lol I pick him up and keep kissing the heck out of him, he hates it :p
He only like a few kisses and that it
I hope all is well with you and Tina Marie ♥:bighug:

I hope all is well with you and Tina Marie ♥:bighug:
Thank you!
Tina is living a nice, easy life at 16. All her conditions are stable (CKD, thyroid, arthritis, FD remission, and gut balance). Sometimes I hold my breath about a problem, but she's very good! I'll take this state as long as I get it :)

Other life challenges have had me a nervous, very busy being since before May, but I'll make it, drawing support when needed! Friends, even the on-line kind, are necessary. I feel surrounded with loss (friend's dad, and favorite Aussie I've cared for, for many years, uncle almost about to pass); but it's just life. Back to HAPPY! I plant, then stare at and watch flowers a lot in the early mornings - helps me focus on the whole life cycle:bighug: Thank God for perennials!

I hope you have a pleasant evening Jan ♥:bighug::bighug:

Reading your post is heartbreaking, Diane. I just cannot imagine the suffering of your daughter and that there is no help out there for her. Surely, surely there are studies being done to treat her condition. Experimental trials being performed. Please tell me again what her actual diagnosis is? As I said, my husband had trigeminal deafferentation pain after his first stroke. He was on a lot of meds for facial pain. Nothing really helped him. We took him to Long Island for an implant behind his ear that was monitored by another implant in his chest that had to be charged frequently. It was all such a mess and really not much help but this was many years ago. I'm sorry. I should not be talking about him but I can somewhat relate to what you are going through with Ashley. I wish there was something I could say to make things better. You have been a real rock for me. Always cheering me on despite the trials in your own life. I hope your Dad is happy with where he is. That would be a true blessing for him and for you. You, and your family, are in my prayers, Diane.

Diane,
Glad to see you posted a Tyler update. Even happier to hear that he is doing well.
I think of you every time I wear one ( of a multitude) Aerosmith concert tee shirt.
Hope you're keeping everyone in line up there. :p

Glad to hear Tyler's still doing well :cat: And glad to hear about your dad, things are just starting to open back up here too. Every time you talk about Ashley my heart goes out to you guys. Chronic pain is no fun; even though she's the one dealing with it, as mothers we never want to see our kids in pain :bighug:

Auntie Diane! :cat: Lady, you have a heart of gold. I live for your posts on Ruby's condo every single day and worry when I don't see you, but you never fail to check up on us. You are taking such good care of your Dad, Ashley, and all of the kitties here. I'm so glad you told us what's going on with you, Tyler, and your family. If you ever need an ear, and the Xanax isn't working, you can lean on me. :p

Ruby, who is sitting right next to me waiting for chin scritches, sends you and Tyler sweet purrs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you Summer here is an excellent site to describe it

She has tried everything they had to offer
It's actually labeled The Suicide Disease
I belong to 5 support groups and your heart would break to see how many have taken their lives because they just couldn't take the pain any longer. Some have it for over 30 years.
Ashley's best friend had the same thing and took her life 4 years ago at age 31
They would message several times a day , she lived about 20 minutes from us
They met on line and just hit it off
I did go meet Jen's mom that was her name before she passed
We planned on bringing Ashley to meet Jen even if it was for only 20 minutes or so just so they can see each other and give a hug, but it was too late
The last message Ashley got from her said Remember I love you!
So friggin heartbreaking

You are going thru a lot yourself, caring for your mom, and my heart goes out to you ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Susan, we have a lot of tee shirts also lol
Aerosmith was the first concert I took Ashley to , they are her fav
I think she might have been around 10 or 11 years old. It was at the old Meadowlands Stadium East Rutherford. She was crying and shaking, I thought she was having a breakdown lol
Saw them at PNC Arts Center and then a few more times in East Rutherford
She has always loved rock since she was around 10 an old soul
Queen
pink Floyd
Guns and Roses
The Who
the Doors
AC/DC
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Eagles and on and on,

Aww thank you Katherine, I can't forget about my Ruby ♥
I wanted you all to know what's going on with my family only because if I'm not on for a few days that's why. You should see how I get when my dad gets mail and I have to straighten it out with a bill he might get that he shouldn't have.
I start off very pleasant lol then if they still don't get it then I lose it ha ha
I am so sick of dealing with incompetent people , I am a neurotic when it comes to billing, or anything that has to do with medical stuff. I think I could actually work for a doctors office if Ashley wasn't sick. I just can't go far when it comes to her.
If I ever have a doctors visit for myself I have to make sure my sister will be home in case she has to come and get Ashley in case someone starts mowing and using the leaf blowers.
I just want to go out and smash those leaf blowers to bits lol
Some people have to blow every blade of grass and it irks me.
One time a neighbor who is obsessed with his lawn kept going over and over the same spot of grass with his lawn mower.
I got out of my car , I was heading home , and said wait let me get my scissors out you missed a blade :p
I can be a nut job sometimes lol Did you ever see the movie Mommie Dearest with Joan Crawford well that's me sometimes :p
Give Ruby a big wet kiss right on her lips for me :bighug:

Thanks everyone , just getting things off my chest helps sometimes, you are all like family to me and I truly mean that. Thanks for listening and I love you all ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug: and of course your precious kitties

That last message from Jen just brought tears to my eyes. So horrible. It must have ripped Ashley's heart out to loose someone who could truly relate to her pain. I will pull up the info in the link. My issues are miniscule when compared to yours. I really do pray to God that a cure, or at least a symptom reliever, is found for this horrible disease.

When her mom called me I cried like a baby and so did Ashley
I had gotten to know her also messaging back and forth.
Thanks for your support Summer ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Diane, I read a lot (not all) of the link. CRPS does sound like the worst thing that could ever happen to someone. I just can't imagine how every little sound, sensation, vibration, movement, etc. could cause extreme pain. What does she do in a thunderstorm? Is she able to sleep? I hope you live away from a city in someplace very quiet for her and yet you need a really good doctor for this disease. Does she have one? Does this affect her whole body or is it limited to certain extremities? What is she able to do to ward off the pain? How long has she had this and was it caused by some trauma or injury. They stated that "CRPS is the highest form of chronic pain in medical science". Wow. What a curse. Has she tried the hyperbaric oxygen therapy or the Watsu Aqua Therapy for relief? I'm sorry - so many questions. Please don't feel you need to answer them. I have never heard of this before and, as the article states, we must make people aware of this disease. I really, really hope she has a doctor with experience with treating people with CRPS. I just cannot imagine it.

Hi Summer thank you for reading about. She really doesn't sleep that much.
We live in N.J. and it's not quiet. She has been to all crps specialists and has tried ketamine infusions which did not help.
She is with pain management and takes pain meds which helps with the pain a little , but when she has a bad flare nothing helps.
Has it for 17 yes, she's now 35
Turned her neck one day and heard a loud crack and couldn't move
Took her to the ER , took an x-ray and said it was a spasam.
Then got worse.
Had Mri 's, cat scans , showed nothing.
Had facet injections, lidocaine injections, stellate blocks, you name it she had it
Then in 2011 and 2012 had to have 2 jaw surgery's TMJ, she was bone on bone
They cut you in front of the ears to go in.
That made the crps worse

She mainly has it in the ears, neck, eyes, face, jaw , head
When someone mows their lawns we have to leave the house, leaf blowers just will kill her
Winter we have to leave due to snow blowers, wait till they are done
I have to make sure to keep up on shoveling my car out so we can be ready to leave when neighbors start to snow blow.

Has it in her vaginal area, can't take her blood pressure because it will make her arm start to flare. Everyone has different symptoms

She can't listen to people talk to much or if she talks too much the pain starts
So she stays in the house unless she has a doctors visit
Has to wear a coat with a hood even in the summer if she goes out because the breeze will start off the pain.
You can't escape sound.
She did try what you asked about, didn't help
More people have it in their limbs so that might help them
One person got it from just going for blood work, her pain started where the needle
was to draw the blood and the pain just spread.
You can just sprain an ankle and get it

No rhyme or reason
It's been around since the civil war
It's a very lonely life. She missed all those years in her 20's to experience life
Having a boyfriend, love, maybe getting married, have friends was all taken away.
She is such a caring, giving daughter, never gave me a bit of trouble
To be honest she doesn't even want to live anymore
I look at her and say to myself how the hell did this happen to her
Nov is crps awareness month
They have walks in certain cities
Orange is the color for crps and one day in Nov everyone wears orange
Niagra Falls lights up orange, buildings all over the world will light up orange
There is not awareness like their is for other diseases
Not enough research, no funding.
You can bet your butt if someone famous got it then their would be awareness, research, funding. Google Images of crps in the limbs, just terrible

Sorry to go on and on about, but I thank you for reading about Summer
Will talk to you soon ♥:bighug::bighug:

An utter nightmare. Please tell her that I am thinking about her and praying for her that she, and others suffering from this condition, will find some relief someday very soon.
