He started eating on his own a couple of days ago, but couldn't stand up. We were having to hold him up just so he could use the litter box. Last night he wouldn't eat again so I had to syringe feed him. Sryinge fed again this morning. This evening I took him back to the vet and they said his hydration was looking good. They did a blood panel again because she was worried about his liver and kidneys since he hasn't eaten much in 2 weeks. The test was good except for his potassium. She said that could be why he is not able to walk or stand on his legs. She also heard a heart murmor, but she said that could be due to the potassium being off. Well, she gave me a potassium supplement to give him and said to let him eat whatever he would eat including dry food just to get him to eat. She also gave him a B12 shot again. I keep praying for my Tiger.

I am so sorry you and Tiger are having such a hard time.

Has the vet (or you) tested for ketones? pancreatitis? It would be nice to get to the bottom of his eating issues so you could just deal with the diabetes. Here is some info on ketones: ketones You can test for them at home. Here is some info on pancreatitis: http://www.felinediabetes.com/phorum5/read.php?8,876722,876722 When they have pancreatitis, they are in pain so they don't eat well.

And some ideas on getting him to eat: Getting your cat to eat Lots of members have had luck with Fortiflora. It is a probiotic that has the enzymes that make dry food so irrestible. People sprinkle it on the wet food. You can also try baby food - sometimes they will eat that. Just be sure to get the kind without any seasonings. I think Beechnut is a good brand. Another thing that sometimes helps is to put the food on your finger and let them lick it off. That can stimulate them into being interested again.

If you can get him eating again, the insulin has worked well the times you have been able to give it. He has certainly had some encouraging numbers.

Hoping that Tiger will start eating again. Paws and fingers crossed for you both.

Why don't you change your subject to something more dire so you will attract some attention. Maybe something like "Tiger is not eating - need help"? We have lots of members who dealt with similiar issues who will be able to help.

Glad to hear Tiger is doing a little better. I've used the Fortiflora and it gets Pepe to eat some of the canned varieties that he isn't wild about. He is very picky!! :-D

Tiger not eating-need help

Tiger is eating a little boiled chicked. He still doesn't look real good, but was standing (still wobbly) for about a minute. I have checked his Ketones and they show negative. I also read the site about getting your cat to eat. And it was very helpful. I am trying whatever I can. You all have been so helpful, thank you all.

Good that he's eating :-) And great on no ketones!
