I wrote about the murder of Dollbaby in this post: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=38879.
I haven't heard anything from the DA's office, so I sent a carefully worded letter to his office last week which gave a quick summary of the events, how the NC animal cruelty laws could be used and charges pressed against that monster, and empathized that my girl had been in good health. Her death was not from natural causes. I received a letter back today where he expressed sympathy for her loss but said that it was not a criminal matter.
I'm angry but I knew that this would be the outcome. No one gives a damn about animal cruelty cases where the animal dies. If the torture had left her with burns or broken bones, that'd be media friendly. But since my girl couldn't survive what happened to her, there is no photos to splash around of her hard won recovery, nothing but a grave, so the DA doesn't care.
Here is the law: "If any person shall maliciously kill, or cause or procure to be killed, any animal by intentional deprivation of necessary sustenance, that person shall be guilty of a Class H felony."
Dollbaby was deprived of food and of her insulin (since there were only 5 needles instead of 10) which led to her death. That monster also admitted in writing twice that she made the decision to not call me or the vet. That person won't confess why she did it, but it seems she decided to harm my cats when I refused to pay her an additional $45.
I'm just so angry because the only option left for me now is to sue her for the cost of the vet bill. I wanted justice for Dollbaby. Not money.
