Sophia is spending the night at the hospital. She is c onstipated and some came out but there is a very hard one still in there and needs to be dealt with. She is also very dehydrated which surprised me since her litterbox was so full of pee and she drank a lot. The vet thinks her thyroid is out of whack. We do give her meds but hat may not help. Years ago I told dh that we should give her that special treatment but he thought Sophia was too old for it. I am glad it is not anything more serious with her intestines. we will know more tomorrow.

Hopefully, she will feel much better tomorrow, and will be able to come home.
 
Poor Sophia. You can help her get more liquid by mixing water into her wet food. I mix a can of water with a can of food and mix if up into a soupy consistency for Mary and she loves it. If the vet thinks shd needs it you can also do sub-Q fluids at home fairly easily for most cats. Your vet can show you how and if Sophia is a wriggler you can get cat restraint bags that are easy to use. My vet rents them for a few $/week so you can try them out before you buy one

Sophia is home. DH picked her up and I had lots of questions which he can't answer, I asked for copy of the blood test because I want to know how her thyroid is doing.

They told him .. and he can remember that.. even though she drinks like a fish she can't hold water and is very dehydrated. He came home with a big bag of fluids and we have to give her some daily right now. We can do it together and it will work... otherwise I can use one of those restrainers. She is a wild one.

Once I have the blood test I want to ask the vet if it is the thyroid that makes her dehydrated or are her kidneys failing.
