Hello everyone,
I'm sorry I haven't posted in such a long time. All of you were such a huge help in getting me started using Lantus with my Boris. He is doing soooo well. WE have found that he does best on 0.25u bid. Sometimes we skip a dose because of a lower number and my DH and I being gone for work and later he runs a little hi but usually we have him in the mid 100's. He has gained wt, his fur is long and clean and shiny now from when he first came to us all matted and he is a LOVEBUG! We've had him 1.5yrs now and I can't imagine life without him. His liver function tests remain elevated and we do have him on meds for that but in general he appears healthy, happy and I can tell you he is very very loved!
My other update is for hi dose information as that is how I first found this board - thru Merlin - who wound up having acromegaly and which remains a passion of mine. Merlin watches over Boris and us now but I hope somehow with all the other hi dose moms/dads - to be able to continue to help in some small way those of you facing the challenge of having a cat with this type of disease process - or one with IAA or even Cushings.
I've updated the acro/iaa/cushings sticky. And I've posted a link to an updated document on treatment for acromegaly with some great pics of some of the cats/people who have gone for the stereotactic radiotherapy. You can "meet" Dr Lunn who is a heroine in the acro moms/dads eyes - see where the kitties go for treatment, get explanations of CT scans, and read about updates. And there are some newer studies/treatments too being investigated. Wendi and Milo, Joan and Madison, Heather and Boo - are some of the most famous but there are ohhh so many now that have gone.
