Moe is doing much better this morning! He actually did eat a bit, as long as he had company standing there and petting him while he ate. He was purring happily and enjoying company. His PS was 104, so he did not receive any insulin. Vet will retest later. His stool and urine appear normal again. I'm thinking that if he continues like this throughout the day, he may get to come home tonight!
Keep eating Moe!
LATEST UPDATE as of 1:45:
I just got off the phone with Moe's vet. His blood glucose continues to stay low. His last test was higher at 185, but still not too high so they have not administered insulin yet. They will recheck him again at the end of the day to see if he needs insulin or not.
He is eating small amounts at a time, but only when the vet stands there and pets him. He purrs and eats happily as long as she will continue to spend time with him while he eats, which she is obliging him at. The ulcers are beginning to heal and appear a bit better. Dr. McGinn, the lead doctor also administered Buprenex to help with the pain of the ulcers, and injectable metronidazole to help them heal. She has seen a small amount of nasal discharge appear, so it seems Moe caught a virus which is responding to treatment. He is well hydrated now and quite perky and personable. I was instructed to call back at 5:00 and they will make a determination as to whether they will release him home tonight or keep him one more day to ensure his recovery continues and he has no setbacks.
