Lucky has been doing great so far. However recently within the last few days she's not eating as much as she normally does. Normally she eats 2 cans a day. She's lost 3lbs so far. I need to weigh her in this week yet though. Usually I feed her in the am and when I get home from work she's eaten everything in her bowl and is ready for more. she grazes as she eats. Well lately she's eating about 1/2 of what I give her and she won't eat the rest. The first time it happrned I thought maybe she just didn't like the flavor I got her. Now she does it with her favorite flavors. She is eating but just about 1/2 of what she normally eats. She doesn't act like she's starving. Her sugar reading today was 72. She acts normal in every other way. She isn't drinking from the water I leave out (she never does anyway ). So I don't know if I should be concerned or if her body may still be readjusting to the changes? Not sure. I may try a different brand off the food list thats carb appropriate. She not throwing up. Has had more hairballs but thats normal for the season.

Was Lucky an appropriate weight before the 3lb loss? Does that mean she's eating approximately one can a day now?

I've definitely noticed my Toby is eating a little less now that his sugar is getting under control, but because he's doing better in every other way, I can only assume it's because he isn't literally starving now! He still has a healthy appetite and eats more than our two girls.

No she was overweight. She was around 16lbs and now is around 13. She was eating 2 cans and now it's more like 1 can a day or a little over. She's playful. I had her chasing string for about 15 minutes this morning. I'm just worried that something may be wrong and don't want her to have a relapse or anything.

I came home later today around 6:30 and it looked like she had eaten around 1/2 of the can which is 3oz. It is just a little worrisome. She is normally a good eater. I think I may call the vet tomorrow and make an appointment. It's possible maybe she has some teeth that need to be cleaned or pulled possibly. I know when I checked the litter box today she had pooped and she does look a little constipated. I gave her some Petroleum Jelly tonight hoping that might help some. I'll also have to stop at the store tomorrow night and pick up some different cat food from the list. Hopefully that will spark her to eat more?

I think I may have found the issue. I started rubbing her left side of her chin and then right. When I rubbed the right, she started pawing at my hand. So I think she may have a tooth issue going on. I'll call the vet. It won't be my regular vet because I can call her and she probably won't be able to get in until next Wednesday. And even if she can get in on Saturday she'll have to wait until the vet can do the work. The vet I use when I can't get into my regular vet might be able to do that for me sooner. I just do not want her to relapse. If it's a bad tooth I want it out ASAP preferably the same day. Now if he does find that she needs a tooth out, is there anything I need to be concerned about or do to make sure she doesn't relapse? Is there sugar in anything he might give her for pain?? Or other meds?? Just want to know so I can be prepared and inform him if there is anything she can not have (obviously food with high carbs.

Any infection can spike blood glucose and cause a relapse. I would get her into the vet asap.

Pain meds shouldn't spike BG. He will also give antibiotics post operation.. they should be ok too. good luck!
