Just wanted to say THANKS for all the good advise. After finding this group in January I have felt empowered and have taken the bull by the horns 
, sorta speak. In January Goomer was at 10 units BID of Lantus today he is at 2 units BID. After the vet ran several test we found he has a food sensitivity (or allergy) that was messing with his insulin absorption. Took awhile but I found the right food for him (Friskies SD Ocean WhiteFish-3 on Binkys List). :RAHCAT I know I have not put all your advice into practice but I feel real good about the progress we have made. Vet is very shocked too! 
He told me he has never had a cat with type 2 go into remission, took that as a challenge and we are on our way. BIG,BIG THANKS TO ALL!
