I am really grateful to have found this group. Since switching to Lantus Gobi's am readings are usually below 150 but by the pm reading the numbers are 350 to 415. He is eating only can food(ff-great choice),1 1/2 can in the am and 1 1/2 in the pm.sometimes more. He eats his food in 2 hours or so time, absolutely no dry food.Still very thin. I am really worried with the spike in his pm readings. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for a reply Jeanne. Gobi is more or less the same. Very skinny and numbers are all over, when I call the vet he always tells me the same,diabetes is a killer, the cat is old, or sometimes they never get regulated. I am really at my wits end, I really would love to help Gobi, if I had the money I would take him to AMC in NYC. I feel Gobi has been so unregulated for so long he has a very small chance of doing a comeback. Thanks for caring.

I replied on your other post but will re-iterate on this one- Gobi might be carb sensitive so check your carb %'s.
My cat would swing widely based on if I gave her 5% or 3% carbs on a given day and giving her 1% and then 5% made her hit the blacks. Choose one that has the most food Gobi likes and feed just that one carb% for two weeks and see if that levels out any.

What glucose levels are you getting 5-6 hours after giving Lantus? That is around the nadir, ie lowest point in the 12 hour cycle.
