Thanks everyone on your input for copper. I am learning slowly and painfully, but hopefully not at the expense of my kitty. Dr. P is right, i was afraid of insulin at first, but have gotten better and more settled in giving more. I agree that copper is in need of the 2.25u now. However, just can't go up right now because my schedule this week is just so hectic with many plays and ballets that my girls are involved with this week. Got lots of company coming in for performances and just can't concentrate on testing and keeping up with copper every minute. I do feel guilty that i can't give him what he needs right now, but just would feel worse if i came home and found him in coma from low BG. So i'm staying with the safer dose of 2u right now.

Thanks all for all your support! I don't feel so alone with you all around.

Thanks again Dr. P for all your wisdom. Like i said in our conversations in the past, you are such a blessing to me and all the diabetic kitties. Don't every stop using your gift!

Lori,
Dr. Lisa has probably already told you this, but just in case she hasn't...
You can't let this consume your life.
Copper doesn't need you knocking yourself out with stress and worry. He needs you to take care of him, test him, and give him insulin, and feed him and love on him. Your girls need you too. So do all those folks coming in to visit. It can all fit into your life. So, do what you can, when you can, spread that love around to everyone, and keep him safe. He's not going OTJ tomorrow whether you give him 2u or 2.5

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Pace yourself!

Also, if you and everybody hasn't seen them, I posted a few comments on your previous thread since that is where Dr.P. left her comments, so they'd be easier to scroll up and look at.

It is especially with the demands of the holiday to have a diabetic cat. He is not in terrible numbers; they are safe numbers. So take this at your own pace, Lori.

And as silly as it sounds, remember to breathe deeply and often. :-D

Decided to go up today to 2.25u. I could watch the first couple of the hours and tested what i could. At least he responded finally to the insulin. Hope it continues, but i know he needs more. He really was doing good today. He was mad when i had to bring him inside because i was leaving for the day. Loves chasing the squirrels. The squirrels love playing games with copper. I will probably stay on the 2.25 for another cycle or two and then go up to 2.5u when i can watch the whole cycle. I really do want to get him out of glucose toxicity.

Tested for urine tonight and NEG-Ketones and Pos +2-Glucose and TRACE protein. Not sure how valid the trace protein was since it was on an older strip i had. The ketones and glucose on new stip. Glad to see at least neg-ketones. Hate seeing the HIGH glucose in urine. THis is bad i know.

I'm doing the best i can do right now, although i know probably not the best. Too much events going on right now in our family's life.

Thanks for all the warm comments and encouragement. Really need it! Really appreciate you all!!!
