So it looks like Ms. Elektra is doing okay. Vet is going to give her some antibiotics to help clear things up. Here's a question. This cat is impossible to medicate. She's mostly feral though she sometimes lets us pet or brush her. Any ideas how to give her liquid meds? The only time we ever held her against her will ended with a trip to the doctor for the cuts she inflicted.

Hmm. Do you add water and make a gravy for her food? Could you add the liquid to the water and mix well? If you'd an unflavored med maybe? You could do the same with a pill you could powder and add to food?

Did the vet put a flavor in the med? One of my cats has valley fever and he gets liquid meds BID. The have flavors like chicken, tuna and vanilla butternut. I asked the compounder if any of these have sugar and they are sugar free. Also I asked which one is the favorite amongst cats and they said overwhelmingly vanilla butternut...so that is what he gets. Even though, Slugger doesn't mind being held, I had to almost, kind of sit or squat on him at first. I tried to go with the burrito, towel direction and he ultimately was able to get one of his deadly, little paws out. After a couple of times, he didn't mind it at all (but he is not feral at all). He must have liked the flavor too because I did try tuna once and he didn't like that one.

Do you have to give her a lot? This may be a stupid idea but maybe put it on her paws for her to lick if it wasn't a lot of meds? If she likes it, then maybe she would eat it in her food or just lick it up??? I think I am dream'in now.

Hi all! Well we're home. Elektra has never been so happy I think.

The antibiotic is clarithromycin. We dose twice a day. I put her in a room by herself, gave her a little bowl that had some tuna (about a teaspoon...with the water) and mixed the antibiotic into that. She lapped it right up! Tuna is a treat here, and since I did it before feeding, she was hungry. Fingers crossed that this keeps working for us!

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I really appreciate it. I was going to do it in her food, but she eats a bit, walks away, eats some more...etc. They all mix and match bowls (though they're all the same). If the tuna stops working, I'll put it in just a bit of her food and give her that first.
