I emailed the vet about the home BG testing and she was supportive. She did want me to get an AlphaTrack for doing glucose curves at home in the future because that's what the office uses. Also good with the diet switch. <3
I asked the vet about testing for ketones and she said she didn't recommend it because healthy cats can have some ketones in their blood. I'm still going to get a ketone meter based on some of the stories I've read on here. I just don't know what ketone level is an emergency or what I'd even do...
Arthur likes the wet food more than the dry food, so our issue is making the transition gradually went a bit off track this morning. I put wet and dry into both our cats bowls. Arthur didn't eat any of the dry food just the wet, strong armed his way to other the cats bowl, and then ate all the wet food in that bowl as well lol
Arthur is being really sweet with the BG testing. He does try to get his ear away, but overall he's doing much better than I ever expected of him. All of our issues are human related really. I'm using single use lancets, and I'm struggling with them because I have to push so hard. It's definitely way easier on a human finger. I know multiple members have stated they don't like that kind due to the pop, and I'm having the same issue. Can someone link the lancet type I would get at the store to free hand this? I went and I don't know what I'm looking for. Just need a picture of a box as I'm a bit confused. Am I getting the ones you put into the pen and then just opening it and not using the pen?
I got teary eyed today about his bruised ears. The vet is recommending the Libre sensor, but my 2 cats play fight and I'm worried it wouldn't stay on. Has anyone had experience in a multi pet household with this?
