U100 syringes are U100 syringes. BUT it is more difficult to measure those small doses in the U100 1 ml syringes. The syringe barrel is the same length, but it holds 100 units, so the lines are closer together.
The U100 1/2 Unit syringes hold 50 units of insulin, so the lines are closer together, but not as bad as with the U100 1ml syringes. If you have any U100 3/10 cc (ml) volume syringes, those are better for measuring the smaller doses our diabetic cats get.
Conversion from U40 syringe to U100 syringe is multiplying the U40 dose by 2.5.
Conversion chart is here in this link. I suggest you print out a copy for yourself. Click on the "printer friendly version of this chart" to print a copy. >>>>>> http://www.felinediabetes.com/insulin-conversions.htm
I was using the U100 1ml syringes with Wink at first, because he was a foster cat and that is all the shelter had given me. He was on a U100 insulin at the time, so it was extremely difficult to measure the doses with those larger volume syringes. Extremely difficult. Easy to overdose.
Hope you are home testing because you will want to be doing that for the syringe change.
p.s. Getting all the air bubbles out of the syringe will be very important. Finger flicks.
