U40 Syringes question

I'm confused & want to double-check something: I've been using u100 syringes from the beginning w/Stinky's ProZinc b/c I already had some & just printed out the conversion chart. I now have a whole bunch of u40 syringes, but I'm wondering if I can use them, since Stinky's doses tend to be .4 or .2? I have 2 different types of u40 syringes: One is 3/10 ml and is marked from 1 to 12 units (no other line markings) & the other is 1/2 ml and is marked 5, 10, 15, 20 units (lines marking each unit between). If I should just stick w/u100's, that's fine-I still have over 20 & Stinky rarely gets 2 shots/day.

Any attempt to infer a valid measurement when "eyeballing" it is likely to result in variable dosing.

If you have a ruler or something which has small lines which you can use as a reference gauge, that can help, but ultimately, you are better of using a syringe with measurement lines for the dose you require.

(my vet gave me U-40 syringes with whole unit markings ... and prescribed 0.8 units of ProZinc. I used the U-100 syringes I had and multiplied the syringe number by 0.4 to determine the ProZinc dose I was measuring)

With u40s you have to estimate bwtween the marks. .5 isn't hard and some can do .25 or .75. If you're doing .2 and .4 I'd stick with the 100s.

I donated my u40s to DCIN, since Cass is a micro-doser.

I would stay with the 100s. Hard to eyeball with the 40s. If you have no use for them, you could donate them to either dcin or to Lori to use for newbie kits.

I got them from Lori; she just got rid of a bunch of syringes, saying that she needed to organize her space & I didn't realize think about/realize that u40's wouldn't have the smaller measurements. I'd be more than happy to donate to DCIN, or post them in the Supply Closet & ask that anyone who needs them make whatever donation they can to Newbie Kits (and pay to ship them myself.) I'd rather have a syringe that's going to have markings that are at least closer, rather than trying to eyeball things while bleary-eyed in the AM.

Why don't I send you a case of u100's for your loss. If you can pay just even $5 for the shipping...and put it in the donation box, I would be happy to squash as many as I could in there.
Sorry it did'nt work out Allysa.

Lori,
Not a problem at all! I responded to your PM, so we can figure things out that way. I really think it was my error for not thinking about Stinky's dosing & mentioning that when I asked in the first place.
