U100 Half Unit Syringe image

I don't know if anyone else besides me would find this useful, but if so, please feel free to download this high resolution, letter-sized illustration showing a U100 syringe with half unit marks.

I know there is a lower-res version of this in the stickies somewhere, but I created this version so I could print it out and draw my kitty's exact dosage level for anyone who may be called upon to give Edward his dose. I don't want anyone to make any mistakes!

This might be particularly helpful for those who need to leave their kitty in someone else's care, and want to ensure, for example, that the caretaker doesn't confuse 0.5u with 5u.

Peace :cat:

Like the picture in the sticky http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...info-proper-handling-drawing-fine-dosing.151/ But a bit clearer. Technology wasn't as good back 2009 when that post was first put together.

Some people also take a used syringe and fill it with a colored liquid with the dose they are giving their cat. Mark syringe clearly to note it is NOT insulin, only a reference syringe for comparison purposes. Maybe mark the syringe with some duct tape or something.

There is also the possibility of making a reference gauge for those smaller doses. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1A79AmzZqnu5UYSKeVE-VwjeueWkWTY3LC3UKAmwUG4Q/edit?pli=1

Or people reduce the dose slightly if they have a pet sitter coming in to give their cat insulin.

That is a very clear picture thanks Kat.
As Deb said, if you are ever going to leave Edward with anyone if you are going away, we always recommend you give a 'vacation' dose which is a reduced dose to what you would normally give, as a lot of cats don't eat as well if their mama/papa is away and the person giving the dose of insulin may not be monitoring the BG levels as you do.
