hi,

we prefer the long needle length (12.7mm, 1/2 inch) but our pharmacist told us they dont come with the 0.5U markings at that length.

does anybody know if it's only the short needle length (8mm, 5/16") that comes with those markings? we got some of those first and realized that the long needle works better for us.

currently, we are using the long needle without the marks. since we are at a whole unit dose, it's okay for now.

Hello:) I love the name Kitaibelia:cat:

From looking around so far, it looks like your pharmacist is correct. If you really don't like the short needles (I use them for myself also, was so excited when they became available) a good option would be to purchase some digital calipers. There is a chart somewhere that has a list of syringes, and the measurement of what 1 unit equals on digital calipers. Then you do a little math from there! Or you could back into your measurements by getting a caliper reading on your preferred syringe at the 1 unit measurement.
Interesting that lots of people have noticed how imprecise syringe measurements can be (even syringes in the same box), and prefer measuring all their dosing with calipers after drawing the insulin.
They are amazing at measuring tiny doses. I ordered mine on Amazon for about 15-20 dollars and loved them. When giving tiny doses (1/2u, 1/4u or .1u) they work great.
