Hello,

Priss's results from her fructosamine test yesterday were a 536, vet says that this is moderate regulation and we need to increase her dose. Vet wants us to do 2 units in the morning and 1 unit in the evening. I asked about half units and she says that this would be too difficult with the small amount we're dealing with so they split it this way? Is this usual?

Thank you,

Elizabeth

No Lantus is dosed in two equal doses. The same dose is given both am and pm because of the nature of the shed you want the doses to be equal on both shots. And how can a half unit be too hard to dose when you can buy syringes with half unit marks on them? Plus you never raise Lantus in whole units, it is raises a quarter to a half unit at a time. So if Priss has been on 1u b.i.d you would only want to take her up 1.25 or 1.50u twice a day.
