? Tucker strikes again

For those playing along, Tucker is out of control again... After having cheated death with days of hypos (1.9) at his lowest, and then such a bad pancreatitis the regular vet thought euthanasia was his best option... 13 days after his first signs of illness and he is pretty much back to his former self. At potty time he is begging at the door to use his fav spot under the daisy bush, then reluctantly uses the litter tray. He is eating like a horse! He's able to jump up on counters again and is doing most of his Tucky things... Including bring naughty. I'm not sure if I should be taking him back to the hospital or what, so I'm asking you. I just walked into the kitchen and found he had managed to pull the lid off of tupperware and had eaten a cooked chicken breast, leaving a big shard of cooked bone on the ground, he also had 2 small roasted potatoes, some carrot and maybe a bit of key lime cheesecake for dessert. How dangerous are the cooked bones and do I need to get him seen/xrayed?? It's midnight Sat night here so the ER would be my only option.

Wow! So great of an update, Tucker, you naughty boy eating all that contraband (key lime pie)! Lol I think if he is acting fine, no ER is necessary just keep an eye on him, but if it worries you, take him, sometimes it’s better to do what makes us worry less

Unless there seems to be bone missing, I'd just keep an eye on him.

There was a large shard of bone left on the ground but the remainder must have been eaten. We've since found the remnants of a carrot and paw prints on the floor leading away from the cheesecake. I rang the animal emergency hospital and they said since he appears happy and comfortable I can keep him at home under observation, but also said cooked chicken bones are dangerous... So be vigilant for signs be is in pain.

Look at the end of the bone shard. Look for teeth marks. It could just be a lazy hack by the butcher.
Is Tucker still on big pain meds?

(I'd jump onto the counter for that meal.)

Oh my goodness! I thought Luci was the Champion of finding and eating contraband! Now Tucker is taking the cake (literally) on that one. He sounds like he's in fine - super cat - form! Jumping and eating everything in sight. Yes, I have the same issue here - DH or I leave stuff out on the counter - to cool or whatever and the next thing I know Luci has seized the opportunity to rip open the bag (usually) and help herself to it....oh boy...thankfully she's never worse for the wear. I suppose you could watch him for any signs of abdominal pain - I know out in the wild cats eat animals - and bones...and the whole thing - up to and including chickens - sadly - they are opportunists...and don't pass up the occasional fresh meal - when I say fresh - I mean really really fresh as in my cat Abbey would stalk and kill anything moving in our yard...and a lot of ferals will do the same - so he's just acting 'catty'... I wouldn't rush to the ER tonight - let's see what you find in the LB in a few days (ugh)...perish the thought... doubtful that you'll recognize the key lime cheesecake!

A long time ago Butternut chewed some thread and ate the sewing needle that was attached. He did this in the short time I was at the door with UPS. The needle arrived in the litter box embedded in poop.

My sister's boyfriend's family dog is named Tucker and you can always hear my yelling "TUCKER! STOP!" when he's being bad. I guess Tuckers are just natural troublemakers.

I would keep an eye out too. He might have really rancid poop for the next few days. But any change in appetite or nausea, I would go see the vet.

Fresh bones are fine to eat, I have given mine raw bones as snacks. Cooked bones can splinter and cause a puncture. I hope Tucker passes them safely.

You’ve suddenly helped me recall all the things I’ve watched cats eat.... ...or found in the box later. I had one that loved to chew and eat string so much he chewed out whole pieces of those thin straps to cami tops. One that gulped down a whole rubber band out of nowhere. The ribbon I found in the box......

Tucker certainly likes to keep you on your toes! It’s good to hear he’s back to his mischievous self! Although I never feed chicken bones to any animal and certainly don’t recommend it, people have been doing it for years and years. Most of the time it’s no problem. I would just keep an eye on him and the litter box. He’ll probably be just fine.
