I think Lulu might be broken. Umm... I want to jump up and down right now... but I know it's too soon.

His numbers were a little low yesterday, but high enough to shoot. Last night he was on that border of shoot or not... we shot and stayed up with him. He went down into the 70's before bed and he woke me up for a snack in the early am. This morning he was too low to shoot.. 171 after a snack... the Humulin would take him down too low.

More than 4 hours later I get home from work and test again... 114! Going down all on it's own!!!! He ate lunch, looks good, grooming and being lazy as always but also willing to play.

Has anyone else gone thru this... I will test later tonight as I would if I were shooting.

ok, can't resist.... dancing_cat

Crossing all fingers and paws that you just broke Lulu but yeah too soon to tell for sure, but that is a really nice drop all on his own. :-D

And Oh yeah I know that wanting to jump up and down feeling...look at Max's ss I did a lot of finger crossing those first few days in the blues...then greens.

:RAHCAT This sounds promising! How wonderful! When food takes them down after eating, it is a sign that the pancreas is starting to wake up. Try feeding small, frequent meals to help that happen.

Yes, keep testing. You may see an higher number every once in a while. Come on and get advice. This part is tricky - trying to keep them low enough, but not giving insulin if not necessary. We usually consider a kitty "off the juice" after 2 weeks of readings in the double digits.

Fantastic job you have done!

Thank you for your finger crossing and cheers! I'm trying to keep the dancing to a minimum over here. cat_pet_icon

Wow, Max's numbers are great!!! Congrats to you both!

Thanks and we will continue to dance for you over here. Of course Angel will dance for any reason especially now that she has seen the turkey in the frig. Honestly I think all my Maxi-boy needed was just a home to finally call his own, and a decent diet.

Now I need to convince Max that we DO still need to test every once and a while...the better he feels the harder he is to catch long enough to test..lol. Frisky doesn't even begin to describe him now. Now to just get his coat grown back out and put a couple more LBs back on him. When he came to me he weighed 10.5 we are up to 13 now but he is still very lean, a little too lean yet. But that is coming. dancing_cat

Oh yeah when you break your diabetic....talk to Venita, she would be happy to give you another one, and you don't even have to give her the broken one. lol

We are still excited, but his #'s are back up in the little yellows. With insulin he will most likely see green tonight again. Hopefully his cute fluffy pancreas will get the hang of working on its own... good sign that we know it's possible! :-D

Some day I'm sure I will adopt another unbroken cat.. just not yet. Our other 3 need some attention first... then, well, maybe.

Only 4?....sheesh that is so under catted....lol

Don't look at my sig....yeah they are all mine down there...lol

Mel & the furry hoard.

We are actually down from 6. We lost Prozac the Happy Cat last fall... she was a good friend to Lulu. I am sure we will have a larger pack eventually, but right now my wife and I are working through school and hoping to move across country for grad school... it's gonna be hard enough with the four. We were so young when we started to "collect" them, but the original 6 were a true pack... following each other around, eating together, sleeping together, and hardly ever disagreeing. Lulu is the oldest of the pack, then Jezabel who we rescuded, Fetch (rescued from two little girls who were playing tug of war with him in a smoke filled house). We adopted Hunter (a parasitic flee bag) 2years ago.

I love that you love cats, and have so much love to share with them and us as well ;-)

MJ that's a great photo!

Roller coaster. his +3 was 84! and he didn't want to eat his snack. sh*t.

gave him 4 bits of his old kibble for a kick of carb (he sure misses his crunchies) and now he's eaten some of his reg wet food. will test again in 1/2 hr. nailbite_smile
this is gonna be tricky i can just tell.
