Today we had a huge milestone happen! In the morning I let Merlin in to see her...I had a good feeling. He walked right up to her crate and they both sniffed noses and everything was just fine!!!!! I can't tell you how happy this makes me. This makes everything so much easier-that I don't have to worry about him hurting her, her having terrible fear or anxiety, etc. We've not let them be together physically except while she's in the cage because I can't take a chance of any rough-housing or playing. The only whacko thing is that Merlin wants to walk on the top of her crate which has really big openings and skinny little bars. It's like he's walking on a tightrope. I put a stop to that.

Trink's doing excellent. I've stoppped her Metacam...she won't get anymore starting last night. Her paw is normal size now, her incision looks good, he bruising has dimished substantially. She is happy, purring, eating, wants to play and curious as always. She puts weight on her leg and walks well.

The ONE unpleasant surprise.....FLEAS! I've found 2 on her. The first one was a couple days ago. I was so stressed about her bigger problems that I didn't even address it. Then I found another today. I've never treated my cats for fleas! (since the 90's) I've never had to. I'm not up on flea stuff. I went to Petco and got Advantage II. I treated both of them. There's another $60. She got them from the ER.

Both cats are snoozing comfortably right now and I'm happy. Things are looking up around here!!!

Pics-some are clear, some aren't. The first is me giving her an hour and 15 minutes of Reiki- the longest Reiki session I've ever given. She loved it.

Aw, such little angel kitties. That's a pretty big incision for such a little girl! I'm so glad to hear that Trinket and Merlin's relationship is on the mend too, I can just imagine what a relief that is for you. Purrs.

Traci, to be on the safe side, treat both cats for fleas and be sure to vaccuum the room she is in really well as they can be in the rug, in the linens, etc.

and glad to hear she is doing better.

I am so scared about these fleas. Both cats have been treated and I vacuumed. I've started washing all their bedding and put all their non-washed bedding out side until I can wash it.

We called the Referral Hospital to report that she had fleas and to see if it was ok to treat them. We told them she got fleas from the hospital and they didn't offer anything. Then Dave told his vet friend who works there and she said we should have been offered free flea killer. It's a constant battle to constanly be looking out for your best interests and your cats' too! UGH.

I am not good at managing this stuff! nailbite_smile

traci you are doing great! trinket looks happy and content .. I'm so glad that merlin is cool with the whole situation now and knows it's just a matter of time before they can play together again .. such a good big brother ..

Just curious-

Do you guys realize that there's more than one picture...that once you open that thumbnail you can scroll throu the rest in the album? Just curious because there's several photos. I didn't think I had to put links to all of them.

Update-
I'm hearing now that Trinket is "climbing" her crate. She's nuts. We're going to have to raise the bottom so she can't fall too far when she climbs.

I spoke to the dopes at the ER hospital today. They are trying to tell me that Trink had fleas when she came in! CRAZY! This customer service lady said that someone noticed she had fleas but never treated her or told me about it and she was there for 2 nights. Had they noticed fleas and treated them I wouldn't have this problem!!!! I'm PISSED!
I know she didn't have fleas. They messed up on a couple different levels. By not treating her those fleas probably spread to other pets in their hospital!!!!

I'm so glad to hear that Trink is on the mend. I bet Merlin misses playing with his buddy.

FWIW, when Gabby was diagnosed, she picked up ringworm at the ICU. The idiot reception staff were letting the dog owners keep their dogs off the leash. It was a very bad ringworm season and the dogs were sniffing at the cats in carriers. Trust me, ringworm is a lot worse to deal with than fleas.

I hope you got all the damn fleas. When I tried to rescue Dallas the first time, some flea eggs apparently dropped on the carpet as I carried him from the back porch to the garage (about 20 feet). within a week, I found several flea bites on my lower legs and I about split a gut I was so mad! Cedric had already had a flea & heart worm treatment the day I tried the rescue (he got his Feline Leuk shot and I bought more treatment & Lisa the vet tech put it on him) so they came after me. I don't think they ever made it upstaris, but I bought a pack of flea bombs and took Cedric to work for the day. best part was it killed other bugs too and I havent had a problem since - great since I live in FL. Might be a pain in the ass, but you might want to consider a bomb for the room at least.....

Loved the photos - cedric is sitting next to me and paid attention to Trinket! Is she blue point or lilac point?

Im impressed with how well trinks is doing with the collar...especially a hard one! Good girl!!!!
She is really very beautiful AND terribly lucky to have you taking such good care of her.

Isnt it amazing how quickly they heal? When I picked up my foster mere hours after her eye removal, I got in the car with her and cried. I couldnt imagine anything looking more awful! The next morning the swelling was at least halfway down. Within a few days the swelling was pretty much gone. I would have never thought that possible by looking at her that first night. They really are unbelievable beings.

I hope the recovery continues to go at lightening speed. And glad to see there is some reconciliation going on.

you are doing great!

She's a mix. She's been referred to as lilac and blue. Her paw pads are gray and pink. Blue points have gray paw leather-she's got a gray nose. She's also been referred to as a Balinese as has Merlin.

So far the flea situation seems okay. Thank GOD!!!!
