hi Kath! sorry no one saw your question earlier. There are post icons at the top above the subject line of the first post in a thread. Put up the ? icon so you don't get missed! Once you're satisfied with the answers, you can take down the ? so if you have a new question, it'll be noticed when you put it up again.
It's not recommended that you prefill Lantus in syringes. The syringes all have a lubricant so the plunger will slide easily and you don't want the lantus to get contaminated. There are people who've done it here and there without problems, but in general, it's discouraged.
Here is the post about taking care of your insulin:
http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=151 There's a comment there and a link about prefilling syringes being not recommended. If you haven't watched the video yet on how to draw up your insulin, that would be a good idea. You want it to last as long as possible.
Some people use a magnifying craft mirror that clips onto a cupboard door in the kitchen. Some buy craft optic lenses to help see the lines. I'm a quilter and, well i always hate to admit this, but if you stack 2 pair of drug store reading glasses on top of each other you'll be amazed how clearly you can see the lines. One of my friends was doing that and i was teasing her, but then once i tried it and it is pretty amazing. just don't let the fashion police see you!
