2 cats brothers both treated with tresaderm drops in ears for polyps 1 died bg off the charts vet ?? 2nd cat lost weight changed vet to cat only vet now we have a diabetic cat something is going on with tresaderm looks like it should never be used unless bg is monitored is this what happen it sent these cats into a diabetic state ?

All I know is that Tresaderm is a steroid medication and steroids can cause diabetes in some cats. If you're interested we can help you with your diabetic cat.

The good news is once the steroids are stopped many cats are able to go into diabetic remission.

The specific steroid used in Tresaderm (dexamethasone neomycin sulfate) is very potent and does tend to raise BG a lot. There are similar drops that use a less potent steroid, that is raises BG a lot less. My vet prescribed Surolan which contains prednisolone acetate.
