:cat:Going to do the increase unless there is a particular reason I shouldn't. The types of protocols are just sinking in. So I just got a grasp on TR. Also, I read the weight and dose formula- technically he should be at 2.3 u. He is 20 lbs. I feel confident about the increase...:banghead:

I hear you! It is great to have peeps here helping us. Keep asking questions. We have all been helped along the way. :cat:
I noticed you feed them Natures Instinct. Which line do you use? You also state raw chicken and turkey. How do you go about doing that...I think Jimmy would love raw...when he smells and see us eating chicken wings or anything with bones and that requires us using our fingers he is all over us.

I went from Fancy Feast to Nature's Variety canned food. After Bubba was knocked out of remission from a GI epsisode, I switched to raw. He is doing good so far. I took his weight an the amount of calories that he should be on to maintain his weight and fed him that in raw. Bubba had an advantage as he was previously an indoor /outdoor cat and hunted, so he was just to "raw" ) mice, voles, birds and yes, sorry......bunnies.

Here is the formula I use. Take the ideal weight of the cat and times it by 13.5 + 70 =?
Let's use the weight of 10 lbs in the equation. So 10 lbs X 13.5 = 135 + 70 = 205. So that would be the amount of calories you would feed your cat a day. If your kittie is overweight, use the ideal weight into the formula.

Yes. He needs to lose a few.
So use his ideal weight into the formula. Before Bubba had diabetes, he was up to 25 lbs!!! He went down to 19 at DX and then he developed ketones and wasted to 13 lbs, He is now 17.5 lbs which is perfect for him. So use the correct weight into the formula.

How do you do the raw? Throw down a slab of chicken breast? Lol
I fed Raw and semi raw chicken to Raja most of his life. He loves it. Normally i dice the raw chicken into cubes but before doing that i run it through hot water. Makes it warm and he like it better.
His favorite is lightly poached chicken. I boil water and out the chicken breast into the pot for 2-3 mins. I gut deep groves into the chicken so that every cube has a white cooked part and raw inside. He loves it.

He was weighed last August at 20...when he was diagnosed he actually went up half a pound. Thanks for the formula ! My vet said between 6-9 ounces per day. Prior to that it was prob 12 ounces. So once he was diagnosed that's what I've been going by. I'm going to weigh him in a few weeks to see if there's any movement down. Thanks again!
