Tooth condition of a diabetic cat

So, Katie is still in remission, yay! But I am a bit worried about her. Things keep cropping up. First it was an intestinal infection back in November. Then it was a UTI in January. Now one of her canines has randomly disappeared. I can attest that it was there last night when I fed her treats, but it is not there now. The only difference in routine was she didn't want her morning treats. But she doesn't seem to be in pain, no chattering or refusing to eat, no crying from pain, no anything! Her tooth is just... gone. And there isn't a gaping hole where it was; there is a red spot on her gums where the tooth was, but the gum itself is closed.
Most of the diabetic cats I have met are missing most of their teeth, so my question is this: should I be worried about her losing all her teeth? Is there anything I can do to halt/ slow the process?
 
Have you ever considered having a dental done on your kitty? Mocha had one and had to actually have 9 teeth removed, including her upper canines. She had what was called FORL (feline oral resporptive lesions) (I think like kitty cavities) Anyways, something to think about, as I'm sure it could be causing some pain even though kitties are excellent at hiding pain.
 
The two main reasons cats loose teeth are gum disease, and FORLs. Gum disease can be reversed with a dental and extraction of teeth that are too far gone to save. FORLs are thought to be genetic, and there is no solution other than extracting the teeth that are resorbing. Bandit has FORLs, and only has his two lower canines left.

Are you still testing periodically? What is her BG like now? Dental issues can knock a cat out of remission, so you want to make sure you stay on top of them. I would say a vet visit to check out her teeth is probably in order.
 
I suspect that there was a FLOR at the gum line and that weakened the tooth in that area and the canine broke off at the gum line. That happened to my Mitten. I found the broken part and could see the tooth material mising.
 
I just noticed the other day that Charlie is missing his 2 tiny teeth in front. He doesn't seem to be in pain and the gums look healthy. I think they've been missing for quite some time but don't know if I need to do anything to prevent other teeth from falling out or breaking?

Did you ever find the canine tooth she lost??
