I am sure you all know that my Gumpy girl went to the bridge Friday!
My Sugar Bean is acting sooo sad, she looks around, lays on her toys, eating has been there but not what it should.
I have found a new addition to our furry family, with the foster mommy knowing I will be putting BEAN first in the addition. She will be tested daily for her levels to see if the rise or fall. I have 3 weeks to "borrow" our new addition to see if Bean will be better. Then the mommy of new addition will take her back.
My question: is this tooo soon? I am meeting up tomorrow after work to pick her up! I am excited for us all, but soo scared that Bean will stress diabetes again. She has been in remission since 5/24. I did test this a.m. - usually she has been staying in the low 50's - today she was 68! Not that big of a change, but I am still frightened as hell! I dont know which way to go with her.
I have attached a pix of the new one.... must decide a name for her... I saw her at a Petco, thought she was beautiful, and what a personality she does have. I really think she will be great for my sweet Bean, and civvie Slappy too!
ty for listening as I dont know if I should cry or smile at this point, guess I have done lots of both this week end!

You know I asked that very same qustion right after my sweet Muse went to the bridge a year ago. Amon Ra a civie was so depressed without his best buddy and adopted momma cat..Muse had pretty much raised him. And then the tux twins came along, they need a home, and we needed to stop crying, in our case it was absolutely the best decision we could have made. But only time will tell if it is right for you guys, and only you can make the final call. But give it a chance, see how it goes, and if it doesn't work then you can return her...But she is lovely and hopefully just the purrfect fit to heal broken hearts. And that little girl looks so much like my Lady Jane Grey they could be sisters =)

Good luck with your newest addition and keep us posted.

She is soooooo cute.

Only you will know if it is to soon. Maybe Gumpy is working behind the scene?
Only time and trials will tell.
Good luck.

I want to eat her up. :-D

ty ty ty all for the well wishes, as I am sure we will need some of those during our hissing adjustments! - this is a 2 1/2 to 3 week temp. adoption. I will go ahead with the adoption paperwork, however, the foster mommy knows my deepest concerns over Beans bs levels and that I will be watching them o so closely during our 3 wk trial.... and if all works well, Bean adjusts and starts playing again and welcoming her, then she stays.... I am not trying to exclude my Slappy gir, she is important too, but we are not worried about going off OTJ with her like the Bean lady.
And yes, I think my Gumpy girl is working her magic...we will see! I keep calling the other girls Gumpy, then I cry, then I look at the new baby and I have just got to smile knowing I could be saving her from a terrible way and making my Sugar Bean and Slappy are happy too!
I get to pick her up tomorrow, after work and my bathroom is already ready for her! She can hide out there, use the potty, eat and have room to play while mommy sleeps, then she gets to go to work with me while Sugar Bean and Civvie Slappy check out the room she has been in for the evening... we will do this for the rest of the week til Mommy has time to 'mingle' them! eeeks!!! Who knows, maybe she will become the office mascot too! I must allow time for my other girls when I get home, so this will give me time with her too.
I feel like a brand new mommy! I must say tytyty for the tears I am crying now for my Gumpy that is sooo missed!

It may help to do the introductions slowly, to spread out any stress from having a newcomer enter the home.

Closed doors
Baby-gated doors
Feeding far from baby-gated doors
Feeding near tobaby-gated doors
and so on.

Ok my wonderful furry friends and their beans!
The new addition is here! she is LOUD! ;-)
I thought the ride home would be pleasant, NOT! She cried almost the whole 9 miles! lol
Then she squawked when I was carrying her in so the other girls, Sugar Bean and Civvie Slappy were on to her before I could even get her into her 'incubation' room!
She is settled in, litter, cage, water, 'her food', her new food and some toys! all in MY bathroom.
She will ride to work with me tomorrow and until Friday, then the kitty/baby gates go up and the fun begins!
I hope Bean will adjust... she sure did not like the baby talk she was hearing when we came thru the door - but all is quiet for now, and I am again hoping she will adjust. She did not eat hardly anything today and goes around the house looking for Gumpy, laying on Gumpy's special toys! SOOOO SAD, I am hoping she will be ok. They are giving me 3 weeks for the adjustment, Beans bs staying ok, and all getting along.
Wish me luck and btw.... right now I think her name will be HOPE! Probably will change that with her personality, but for now that seems like the right name.
tytyt for listening to me!
Missing my Gumpy girl,
Mom to Sugar Bean & Civvie Slappy and Civvie Hope??

Can they 'chat' under the bathroom door? Mine eventually started playing under the door and then I knew that they would get along. Sprinkle catnip near the door on both sides? Anything to make them think that the other is pleasant and fun.

GrumpyGirl was absolutely gorgeous - loved that picture - and the new baby is gorgeous also.

You may have a rough day or so but hoping that "peace and tranquility" :) settles in soon and it all works out. It's never too soon if you want to open your heart and let in another furry companion - only you (and the other furries) know if all will be okay and they'll let you know. :)

Hoping all is quiet and happy soon.

Emmy & Dude (& Mittsi too)

ty just-as-appy! I will try the catnip and see..... Slappy dont seem that worried over the bathroom door being closed and what is behind it, but Sugar Bean... omg~ They can chat min. but there is a small gap.... bedroom is 0!

ty Emmy & Dude ~ if Gumpy would have had a better personality~ or one that would have allow 'outsiders', I would have done calendars! but she loved only us and that was PERFECT for me! I am hoping HOPE will bring all of the peace & tranquility we need.

I did test Bean tonite as she seems sooo sad, and she was at 53!!! down from Saturday from 67! I must fill in the chart this week end! I will test again Wednesday, and Friday and think I will try the baby gates Thurs. p.m. and some catnip too!

I love this site! what a wonderful group and such good ideas to use!

I think I will go visit Hope now and let the other girls rest from my constant attention! lol
In memory of my Gumpy girl, mommy!
