I find myself not being able to sleep while waiting for the alarm to ring. We have a 7am flight to stay with my daughter. Earlier today we dropped Tommy off at the boarding house. I was so nervous about leaving him in someone else's care. When I took him out of the carrier I felt that he was drenched in urine. The staff went and grabbed a towel and we got him cleaned up. I showed her how to test and shoot, though she has cared for diabetic cats before. She did say that she had never tested before. Tommy was a trooper and I was able to get a good reading. I gave her the sliding scale and all this boards info. She wasn't nervous at all and Tom went and cuddled right up to her. That made me feel so much better. I think he will do fine there. I chuckled on my way out that I felt like a mom leaving my baby at daycare for the first time! ohmygod_smile Anyway I feel OK with it. Will keep you posted.

Awwww mom it will be okay, sounds like he's in good hands and I'm sure you will be calling just to check in with them. And it is exactly like leaving a new baby with a sitter or at preschool for the first time. It just means you're a good momma bean. Heck I still worry when I have to leave our fur kids with daddy to run errands..

Have a wonderful trip and enjoy some fur kid free time!

Just wanted to update you all of our vacation. Tommy was so loved! They said he got so much attention and fought to spend time with him ohmygod_smile Anyway I would not hesitate to bring him back again. Tommy is quite the charmer. Oh, and what I thought was awesome was they went online and printed directions on how to get blood from his ear. Yup, he'll be back! cat_pet_icon

I understand how you feel!! I have 2 sitters that come to my home. Neither one of them can test and Chicken Little will only come out of hiding for one of them but thank goodness its the one she will let touch her and shoot her. I have to pre-load the syringes with less insulin than she really needs but Im afraid of a hypo when there is no BG taken. Its always so tough on me when I leave town. Going on a deep sea fishing trip in 2 weeks and Im looking forward to it but Im also dreading it at the same time. But once you are gone you may as well enjoy yourself even if you do worry. If you are like me then you don't plan to leave very often so get the most out of it!! Have a wonderful time. drinking24 and have a few of these to make the pain a little less!
