Ok, so vet called. Labs are not bad. (waiting for email of complete results). Values are really no worse than 6 months ago.
So, we have nothing to lose by starting pred. No illusions but we'll try.
Vet is calling in the script to the pharmacy.

Figured out why Tom is not really getting any food in. He can't use his tongue properly to "scoop". Did some hand feeding.

Weather has been gorgeous and unseasonably warm the last 2 days, will continue to warm up for this coming weekend Canadian Thanksgiving). Tom is an indoor cat, only went outside very briefly with me less than 10 times in 18 years. Well, we bought him a leash and harness and took him out the last 2 days.
He LOVED it! Took lots of pictures and will post some later.

He's getting lots of hugs and kisses too.

Well that is good news and let's hope the pred helps him feel better too.

It is an amazing drug, I have one of my cats on it and it does help.

What do you use it for? I know nothing about this.

Sonia,

Glad to hear Tom is doing well. The key to cats with any kind of cancers is of course getting the cat to eat. Has the vet suggested any way of getting food into Tom? Or water for that matter? You must get him to eat. My own cat that had a lung tumor had a very good appetite almost six months after her diagnosis but that of course was not a tumor in the mouth.
Please seek out the board I told you about on yahoo there are people on there that have cats with the very same type of cancer that Tom has and maybe they can give you some hints about feeding, etc. All the best wishes for you and Tom.

Terri
