Timing of Sub Q fluids when given with insulin?

Is there any magic time that sub q fluids should be given in regards to administering insulin.

Does the Sub Qs help or hinder in the absortion of the insulin?


I ask this because, I am adminstering Sub Qs to my cat and have noticed at times it seems her bg is higher on the days the fluids are given. There are days that I give the fluids mid cycle (+6) and days when they are given at +10-- the +10 days seem to be the higher than non fluid days. Could there be a correlation between the timing of the fluids and the insulin?

In the case of Lantus, it cannot be diluted, so you want to administer the insulin in a different location from the subQ fluids - perhaps near the thighs.

Diluting Lantus can change it from slow-acting to fast-acting because the crystals won't form (the shed), which means a possible hypo could occur, and it won't last as long.

Check to see if ProZinc can be diluted or not. If OK, I'd still inject them in different locations.
