Time to start OTJ Trial?

VanGogh's numbers have been holding very steady on the 1 drop dose since New Years Eve. The only small spike was when I had a "mini panic" with a 55 reading at +4 on 01/02, & gave him some mc food. . .so now I know that is is VERY carb sensitive! Just got a 74 at +3 today, so thinking of starting OTJ trial tomorrow. . .maybe 1 more dose tonight. Any thoughts/advice?

Before you start a trial, can you get some PM tests for a couple of days? Also, is there a way to feed VG a snack at +8 or +9? It should help to lower his pre-shot numbers.
 
I do feed VanGogh 5-6 times per day as he is still a bit underweight. Will try to get some later test numbers. Thanks!
 
renee, i'd go a little bit longer before doing a trial, personally. numbers over 120 are considered out of the normal range, and we like to see at least a week of everything under 120 and most of them under 100 before giving a trial. it seems like the very best chance for success at staying OTJ is to give the pancreas the support as long as it takes until you see those.

VanGogh was over 120 both 1/5 and 1/2nd - and he hasn't had any all-green cycles. Even on the 2nd when you gave him some med carb, he would hopefully be able to handle it without going higher. There's still daily blue on his ss. i feel like i'm raining on the parade, :sad: but i just want you guys to have success at this!

of course it's up to you, but if it were me, i'd want to see more all green days or a dip under 50 - including the evening cycle that sienne's mentioning. that's what i'd do.
