We were up to 4.5 units of Levemir BID but have been gradually stepping down in doses since then. Not lowering doses necessarily from a low number in the cycle, but usually just because of a low preshot (no big girl panties here), or maybe he is off his food, or we have company for the weekend, or something....

Anyway, we are now at 1.75 units BID! And he is doing well. I could probably fudge it up a little, but we are cat sitting my son's two three year old cats, and sometimes they steal his raw food. They are fed Fancy Feast canned food but they like Tigger's raw. ;)

Anyway, it has been a long time since I posted about Tigger who just turned 16 recently and has been diabetic for half those years. He is healthy and doing great - anti-jinx. On no medications, but probably could use a senior checkup since it has been a long while.

Pamela, so glad everything is going well for Tigger. It seems most of the Lev users are reducing quite a bit. It is so great to see this happen.

Keep up the great work Tigger!

Thanks for the great update on Tigger, Pamela. It's wonderful how you've reduced his dose down.

Happy belated Birthday, Tigger!! party_cat

You're such a good kitty to share your raw food with your two house guests. cat_pet_icon

Thanks you two. :) Today the kitties are going home. I think Tigger will be glad to see them go unfortunately. I was hoping someone would clean his face for him, but there were no takers. :(

They will be back in August for another week so we will see then.

That really is amazing to see how much the dose has come down over time. Thanks for posting the update. He should probably get that senior panel if you have not had baselines for thyroid and kidney function done in a while. It's always good that have those numbers for reference just in case, but if he is doing well there probably isn't anything to worry about.

I bet he will be happy to have his kingdom back to himself again.

Hey Pamela, that's wonderful news about Tigger.i am so inspired when I hear about older Fd cats doing really well-thanks for the update. You go Tiggy-boy! dancing_cat

Marci, Tigger is glad you said "older Fd cats" since he doesn't think he is 'old'. He kept pouncing on Gary (who is three) this weekend just to show Gary that he is the one in charge.

I need to get an avatar up for him. Sheila has offered to help. I just need to get to it. :)

I don't think I ever noticed you don't have an avatar!!!! You've been on FDMB since 2003!! You need an avatar!!! I don't care if it's that cute kitty in the Feliway commercial at the vet's - have you all seen that?? I want to take that cat home. Line drawn like that and everything. It looks kind of like the cat in the funny cartoons I'm sure you've all seen those, like the one where the cat is trying to wake his owner out of bed.

If I remembered how I made Gandalf's, I would do it for you, but I don't remember if I had to use a resizing tool or what.

Pamela,

I am just amazed at Tigger's spreadsheet. My mind just cannot grasp seeing such a phenomenal improvement after being diabetic for 8 years -- and for it to happen at the age of 16!! You have done an extraordinary job.

I do notice, however, after looking at his data from 2009 through 2011, that this phenomenal improvement seems to have occurred around March 25th of this year. I am wondering if you could send me some of that grass. . . .

Lana

Oh ok. i am not very computer literate--if anyone reading this has the time and know-how ,and is willing to help me have an avatar of Buddy i would love it. (so would he-the ham!)
i do have a photo of him i can email. i've tried many many times
to follow the steps but i have a hard time cut and pasting.

LOL Lana! It does appear that way doesn't it. :)

Awww Marci, it does appear we are both avatar-less. :( We will have to work on that.
