Hi Everyone,

It's been over a month since I posted. We took our ACRO kitty with us to the San Francisco Bay Area and Lake Tahoe. She did really well and absolutely loved Lake Tahoe. She is super happy to be home and is seeing her vet this morning for lab work and a check up. I think I will request pain meds as we are starting to see some signs of possible pain. (It is so hard to tell whether it is the heat...but I am going to see how she does.)

How is Bronx doing? @Bronx's dad

Have a nice Monday!!!

Hi Jadi, welcome back. I am glad you were able to have a vacation with Tiffany. Now that you are back, it's time to start doing some mid cycle tests to see how she's doing on this dose.

I'd be curious to hear what your vet recommends for pain. Neko got buprenorphine, some vets prefer gabapentin - which was my vet's second choice. I found accupuncture really helped Neko too.

She is gorgeous and looks to be loving the outdoors!!

I'm new to researching acro kitties- if you don't mind sharing - what is the pain from? What signs are you seeing?

@Susan G & Jimmy G - a lot of acrokitties get arthritis from the bony and soft tissue growth. My Neko found it harder and harder to jump up. Eventually I could see she was slow lying down too. My vet could feel thickened joints, even I could feel it in her spine once the vet showed me what to look for.

Ugh poor babies. I know I'm flying blind here until I get these tests done - but pain meds?? Yikes - he already has constipation issues and I know those make it worse. :blackeye:

Hi Jadi, what a nice picture! Bronx is doing ok, he is on Bupe right now and that does seem to help a lot. Purrs more and walks with less pain, but still has a kinda hunchback from the bony growth in the spine. I did try Gaba first and may try to go back to that since he really fights me hard when I give him the Bube which is a syringe in the cheek pocket.

Marvin still isn't on pain meds, internist had said he wasn't in pain, can't remember what my vet had said (wondering if I didn't ask her). He's doing better, but I've always thought he was in some pain. The cosequin helped, wonder if I got him on pain meds if that would help get him off his hocks.

I love that picture of your Tiffany, she is beautiful. Marvin hates the car too much would never be able to take him with me anywhere, hard enough to get him to the vet.

If you haven't talked to your vet yet, you might want to discuss Adequan (Cartrophen elsewhere in the world). It helps many kitties with arthritis.

Hi Wendy,

Her vet was happy with her this morning. She did prescribe buprenorphine. I have not given her a dose yet, but plan to. I do not want to drug her up if she does not need it, but want to see if her demeanor changes. So hard to know if she is in pain! Good to know about the accupuncture....she is shaking her head and blowing out of her nose, like something is bothering her. (Not a lot but I have noticed it.)

We plan to get back on schedule with the mid day and evening tests, but did go up to 14.

Hope your summer is going well!

Jadi (& Tiff)

Glad to hear that he is in less pain! We are going to try to Bube also. Tiff is slowing down as well, but so hard to know if she is feeling pain. It is nice to be home and back to a normal routine.

Thank you. I will mention that to her. I really am liking my vet. She is very open to the suggestions that I receive from my VERY knowledgeable friends on this board.
