I'm looking into the Breeze system, and would love some feedback before purchasing. I have a 10 year old male cat who is having problems standing while urinating due to his weak legs. The clay litter has become a mess in his fur and in the house. He has never used anything other than clay litter so I'm wondering if he'd be willing to change at this point in his life. Thanks for any feedback you may have!

I have one in my house but only 1 of my 3 cats "routinely" uses it

That being said, I love it!! Can scoop the poop directly into the toilet if I want and just have to change the pad in the bottom tray...and IF you need a urine sample to check for ketones, you can get a urine sample easier since you're not using clay litter

Does your cat have diabetic neuropathy in his back legs? If he does, a lot of us use Zobaline for cats to help with it....it's a B-12 that can take time, but has really worked some miracles around here

Yes, he does have neuropathy and I have the Zobaline on order after reading all the positive posts about it. I'm hoping it'll help him as he is so weak!

That's great to hear. How do you go about getting a urine sample from the pads? I'm new to all of this. Somebody mentioned on another feed that the pads may make it difficult to monitor how much urine your cat may be producing, have you run into a problem like that at all or is it fairly easy to tell if he is going an excess amount?

We took a plastic storage container (not the clear plastic kind) and made a litter box out of it so that we could have a low doorway. The ones you buy were just two high of a step for him and since he is a big cat, the ones with a lower step were too little. Since my cat has neuropathy, he has a hard time standing and walking. When it first started, the clumping litter would get all over him. I got the generic brand of yesterday's news cat litter for him. It is great. And he knows it is best for him since he doesn't get clumping litter stuck to his behind. I still have clumping litter for my other cats and he looks at those boxes but goes to his. He sits down to peepee and doesn't get litter on him. The only problem we have had since using this newspaper litter was when he had pancreatitis and would sit to poop. So he had poop on him that needed to be cleaned off each time when he went. He seems to like the newspaper litter. And he likes the container since he does not have a high step.

You clean the tray well and remove the pad...as soon as your kitty goes potty, you run in and dip the stick in the fresh urine in the tray

Yes, it's pretty easy to tell how much they're peeing too....you'll notice that you don't have to change the pad as often when they're better regulated and not peeing a lake anymore
