Our dog is getting old and has joint pain, most of his outdoor time is spent snoozing on the deck or in our small yard where there's just two evergreen type shrubs. Yesterday I thought he had another skin tag and made an appointment for today. This morning the "tag" was gone and on the floor was a disgusting blob and maybe a CC of blood. When my wife wiped it up it was obvious something in that blob was moving, the biggest tick I've ever seen. Just revolting.
Just a reminder ticks aren't just a dog thing and it's possible to bring them indoors where you think your cat is safe and sound.

Most ticks have no interest in coming indoors. However, brown dog ticks can be enticed indoors through small cracks and crevices in older homes. If this happens and ticks start laying eggs, you could have a full-blown infestation on your hands.
