So I can't believe she would go so high again just cause I reduced by .1 the only other difference is I fed Friskies Special Diet Turkey & Giblets for dinner & left some out for overnight. I know it's a little higher carb than the FF I have been feeding but could it really effect BG that much? I gave her FF this AM & for dinner tonight. I was trying to find a food not so high in phosphorus since civvie has some values increasing in blood work indicating kidney issues, for that matter so does Thumper. Nothing that far off, just thought it might be a good idea to switch off food that was known to be high in phosphorus.

Instead of feeding food that is lower in phosphorus, yet higher in carbs--you could stick with your old food (lower carbs) and add phosphorus binders. You just sprinkle it on the food--easy!

Thumper is so unpredicatable---one day it takes so little, and the next you can't give him enough. I am no SS reader, but if I have time tonight I am going to review his SS and see if anything stands out. Sometimes a second set of eyes helps.

Have you seen Hurricane Irene's "new" expected track? It is going to be a long week at my house, watching the weather channel. We always get substantial damage in my area when they hit around Wilmington. Floyd and Fran were awful (without elec. for a week).......not to mention my house in Beaufort.

I am going tomorrow to buy a cooler that works off the car battery for Kitty's insulin.....just in case.

Where do I get phosphorus binders? If it's something you get from the vet I would bet they are not going to give it to me. I don't have the lab results in front of me but I know Thumper's were within normal range & I don't think Callie's were elevated either. I think both of them had a slightly higher than normal BUN but nothing alarming. I was just thinking it might help to go ahead & switch. Maybe I'm over reacting?

I haven't seen the latest forecast. Hopefully it will turn into a "non event"! It would be nice though if we got enough rain to douse that fire! It was horrible here again Sunday morning. It looked like thick fog when I got up at 6:30 for shot time. I guess you don't have a generator? Can you get one?

Yes, you can get the phosphorus binders from the vet. I remember when I used them on my crf kitty, Tripod, I went to a compounding pharmacy and had them mixed. Robin is using them for Harley--see what she is using.

Rain--Okay....Hurricane...NO!!!!!

Ok, I really don't get this!

couldn't believe it so I tested again & got 408...ugh..should I be concerned? I don't know what to think, she really shouldn't be going up like this.

Kim, on the binders...I don't want to have to ask the vet for them..and don't know if I should really go there at this point?

No furshot?

If not, then I would have to test and see if the curve comes down at the end of the cycle indicating an inverse curve and too much insulin. But, when you look at her SS the 1.6 has given some good results. She responds so differently to the same dose on any give cycle.

Did you feed the higher carb food tonight?

One night I fed Kitty a 7 percent carb food because it was lower if fat, and that is what you want for ptitis cats---she normally eats 3 carbs---the next morning she was 500+.

I switched back to only FF to see if that was the problem. This girls gonna worry me to death. I have been giving her a tiny bit of Miralax cause she's been having to strain a lot to go but I didn't think that would mess with BG? She fussed at me tonight so I know the needle went in. confused_cat

If you fed the slightly higher carb food tonight, that could be the cause of the higher reading after her shot. Henry is very carb sensitive, the FF flavors that are even 2% higher than his normal flavors make a difference like that. He does best it seems on the turkey & giblets classic and ocean whitefish flavor( which I only feed about 2 times a week, due to it being fish, but the classic FF fish flavors are lowest in carbs.) The classic beef dinner FF is higher than turkey and I can tell some difference in his numbers.

I have consistently fed FF classic beef, mixed grill, turkey & giblets sometimes throwing in the liver & chicken. I think I gave them mixed grill tonight. No Friskies since last night.
