Well, so much for shooting 1.5 hrs early last night so we could get back on a 12/12 schedule. I had to feed them after I got that 102. It's a little over an hour since she ate but now she's hiding. There's too much activity at my house for all the cats. We've got 2 extra people here, one of them they've never seen before so we've got lots of hiding going on. My Hyper T civvie won't even come out to eat. Ugh.....
 
This will be a Great opportunity to judge how stress (extra people) effects Thumper!!!!!

You'll get there, Barbara. Shaikha's also a little off after her fasting blood testing the past week and my restarting work, but it will work out. Hope your kitties adapt to the new houseguests soon! I know that does add extra stress. Mine usually hide at first too, but they warm up eventually.
 
Well, she might not get insulin this AM. I'm getting ready to leave for a few hours & her +14 is 114! I can only hope she stays in good #'s but she has done this before then shot right back up. Makes me think all the more it could be pancreatitis.
 
It could be. This is what Shaikha does. She's very unpredictable when it is inflamed. Though I wish she didn't have it, her glucose numbers definitely are a good predictor of inflammation so at least we know when to start paying attention to symptoms so I can treat her appropriately before it gets too bad. Do let us know what you find out on the spec fPL. Hope she's clear!!!

Its sad to say but I actually ahte when people come over cause it gets SHakes ALL worked up

Just got back home, it's hard to believe she's gotten this far on a .6 shot. I don't know where to head from here. My SS is crazy looking. I didn't look like .6 was enough yesterday but now she's gone 21 hrs on it. Should I stay with .6?
 
In reality, if it took 21 hours to get a shootable number , one could argue .6 is too much. But, she has been all over the place and had some many different responses to different doses.

Maybe, she feels better and some of her higher numbers were related to pain.

I'm not suggesting --I'm asking-- have you considered dropping back some. Ketones are negative-- right?
 
Wow! She has zoomed up to 330 in 30 mins. She is eating now, I was leaning towards .6 but now I'm thinking .8? I think I'm talking to myself again!

What was her ps last night when you shot .6?
 
Ketones were negative 2 days ago...I have a hard time catching her in the litter box. She is doing a lot better though. Should I ignore that zoom since it's been 21.5 hrs with no insulin? I was starting to think .8? I don't know what to think though!
 
It took 21 hours for her to get to 251 on .6. The shot was early last night-- but not that early.

I think I would stay with .6. You had a long duration on it.

It is your call-- just my thoughts!
 
She went to the little box but by the time I got the strips I didn't catch it! Then my hyper T puked all over the rug....of course...now Thumper has gone off somewhere without her shot. Ugh..... Anyway, my SS is all over the place but I was looking at yesterdays .6 & that didn't work so well. IDK, I guess I will just stick with it though.
 
I was thinking of .8 but like I said I can't really tell anything from my SS! The last time I shot .8 though it was +15 before I could shoot again. Then yesterday she didn't come down much on .6 in the AM but has gone 21 hrs on the PM .6??????
 
You got 20 hours on .6 on a 299 preshot last night.

It is your call-- but I wouldn't increase!

Too late...I shot .7 and I'm worn out...they've gone out for the night & I think I'm gonna go take a nap! Now I guess Callie's gonna give me trouble, she hasn't been eating well lately now she threw up what she did eat. grr_red
 
That's cool!

One clarification-- I said above the .6 could be too much-- I meant for one cycle if you are trying to get on a twice a day dosing schedule. Not in general!

It looks like you've been on quite a ride. I think .7u is good for tonight, but I think you can drop back on a lower PS to get back on a 12/12 schedule.

Glad you got the test, I hope you have a great time with your company. Was Thumper happy to see her mama?
 
Sounds like a good call to me. It's really a guessing game with her & I think you are doing a great job making sense of it. To a big extent right now I think you have to just pick something within reason, shoot it, and see what happens, and then you revise from there, just like you are doing. I agree 0.6 doesn't look like enough on a late shot, but appears to be enough or too much on an early shot. So 0.7 makes sense, or I think you could have gone a little higher if you had wanted to. But it's all just a guess and then testing to see how close your guess was.

When she gets extended duration like that, and when you see that flat blue curve in the second half of a cycle, where she just doesn't rise much, if at all, that is most likely her pancreas helping out. Once the insulin has fully worn off, her pancreas can't handle it, but when there is some insulin in her system, her pancreas contributes enough to give her an extra ride in the good numbers. That is my guess. Bix used to do that a lot, but after a day or two he always needed more insulin. Some cats just jump into OTJ and start bringing their numbers down on their own - Bix never did that, but he could keep himself flattish for quite a few hours, and then only a gentle rise after that. Time will tell with Thumper!

Hope the stress level comes down soon and kitties are back to feeling ok!
