I decided to reduce again this morning since I got an AMPS of 108 and she's going to be alone today. I shot what I think is .25, those small doses are hard on the eyes. Now that I'm typing this out I'm starting to worry she'll go to low. Now I'm gonna worry all morning. nailbite_smile

You did the right thing. Make sure she has plenty of food out.

This is why it's important to get late cycle BG tests. In fact, if you get +11, then when you test the preshot you will know if it's a rising or falling number. If it's fallen by more than 20 points, it would be advisable to wait a half hour and test again before giving the shot. If the BGs are steady then, it would be OK.

I have 4 cats & leave 3 frozen cans of FF out every day. DH will get home sometime around +5 or 6 and check her. He can put more food out if necessary.

I never get +11's but can see the reason to do it. It would be hard to do in the AM, they start screaming & chasing me as soon as I get up. I will be able to get the +11 in the afternoon.

Go Thumper!!
wow, great numbers and thanks for the lesson!
I am learning so much from all the newbies here
hopefully shakes will come down that low soon!

+6 - 224

I will get a +11 but I'm guessing I should just stick to the .25 for now?

Denise, she had started giving me some low numbers right before the switch. After 6 months on Lantus, so of course now I'm a little worried. That's just me....maybe it's why my first vet called me a "helicopter" mom.

If the .25u isn't enough, the lack of overlap between the doses is going to cause higher BGs in the short term, but they may level out as her system gets used to the Levemir. Give the .25u a couple more days. At least this way you won't have to worry so much while you're at work.

Geez, busy night!

+11 - 321
PMPS - 325
shot .25

I'm getting a +4 in about 20 mins but I'm not really expecting anything great. Thanks Vicky for understanding being away all day. I've got a lot on my plate right now in addition to switching Thumper so I don't need any hypo situations...it just might put me over the edge of this cliff I'm half hanging off of.

Good job getting the +11!

I know all about working and trying to give insulin as well as trying to get BG checks with a weird work schedule. And trying to make it all make sense.

You're doing pretty well though!

It's possible that the 300s today are bounce from overnight - possibly indicated also in the 108 this morning. If she doesn't settle in a day or two, you might consider a dose increase of only .1u or .15u to about .35u or .4u. At these mico doses, those small changes can be all that is needed.

Hey Barb.....just checking in on you and Thumper! I hope Lev works great for Thumper. All of my PZI buddies are using Lev now....I am thinking about adopting another Diabetic cat and starting it on Lev so I can hang out with Y'all!

Once again-- Good Luck! How is Petunia?!

I hope no one minds me hanging out a little in Lev.... I know nothing about the insulin, but I can cheer!

Cheering is great! We all need it  !

Thumper really is riding that roller coaster. Just wait til she gets dizzy enough to get off and settle down. She's still getting into the new insulin.

And is this close? Looks like it is hovering...

She needs a temp. foster home....maybe somewhere around Wilson, NC! Seriously she is being awful to Thumper's sickly sister Callie. Callie is in "fragile" condition, most recently a UTI that I swear was brought on by Petunia chasing her! She has something going on that the vets really can't find but she's down about 2 pounds in about a year, which takes her to a very frail 6 pounds.

No one minds! Cheering and greetings are always welcome. And when you adopt that new FD and start him/her on lev you will feel right at home. These guys are addictive, aren't they?

They are. I want one more, I really do!
