Barbara,
I bet you're right. She's munching on something close to the AMPS, and it doesn't have to be only an hour. Since the insulin would have worn off mostly by probably +10 I'm guessing, I'd figure that anything she eats after that would have no "insulin" effect fighting the food boost.
You have a definite dilemma though.... how to stall them till your alarm goes off. IMO, there shouldn't be anything such as 4:30AM.... It should be illegal, or removed from the clock face. I've had to get up for the past four mornings at that time in order to hit the bricks by 5:30. Have to have the gates open and the park ready by 6, but who in their right mind comes to the beach at 6 in the morning besides sea turtles? I mean, it's still pretty dark! You can't see anything! The sharks feed at dawn and dusk....why don't people KNOW this??? Sorry, day 6 of a 7 day work week, and I'm pretty slap-happy :?
Can you somehow make it impossible for them to wake you up, like close off a door so they can't get near the bedroom? My cats will sometimes scratch at the BR door when they determine it's time for breakfast. I snatch the door open and hurl a throw pillow in their general direction (that's why they are called throw pillows, isn't it?). I aim high to miss on purpose, but they get the point. After one toss, they decide they can wait a while for breakfast. The only time they are really insistent is when Mullet needs to use the outside LB. He'll scratch non-stop until I let him out. In the winter when it's cold out, he'll use the inside boxes, but the rest of the year, he'd rather pee in the woods, whether I think it's okay or not at 4am.
.....need to invent a timed pet door or gate.... kitty can't get through it until the timer goes off.
Hmmm, sounds like Petunia is trying to fatten up so she can stay warm in Alaska this winter....
