She's started to come down tonight so hopefully AMPS tomorrow will be better. Her SS is updated but here's what today looked like.

AMPS - 402
shot .75
+6 - 440
PMPS - 382
shot .75
+4 - 311

Also, she's just had a bad case of pancreatitis & we have fluids to give at home. She's not getting anything else at this point since she's finally started to eat better. I have a hard time trying to figure out if she's dehydrated. It really doesn't seem like she is, her skin seems to go right back down when I turn it loose. How do I know if I should give her fluids? If I give her 100 ml & she really doesn't need it what will happen?

If she'll let you do it, lift a lip, press firmly on the gums, remover your finger and watch how fast the gums pink back up. If under 3 seconds or so, she's hydrated.

The skin should snap back quickly, as opposed to slowly returning to its regular position. If the skin tents, she is more than a little dehydrated.

Unless Thumper has a heart condition, giving her fluids if she is not dehydrated will not cause her harm. So if it doubt, you can give fluids.

I have trouble reading the notes on your SS (font too small), but I persevered. Thumper's numbers started to go crazy in July. What insulin was she on then? I see she was at the vet for pancreatitis on 12/9/11 and started Lantus on 12/15.

Given yesterday's midcycle and PMPS number on .75U, I think she might be setting into that dose. Please keep doing what you are doing for her pancreatitis, and do give her fluids.

Hi Venita,

She was on ProZinc until we started the Lantus. She had some crazy swings with ProZinc but I think the pancreatitis has been brewing for a long time. I had intended on switching vets & trying Lantus when she had the pancreatitis attack & boy was she sick. I have struggled with the vet for many months and honestly I think one of them caused her to end up in ER back in the summer...anyway we've moved on from that vet now! I can tell she's feeling better cause she's back to being her *****y self! As far as the dose....well, I'll post her #'s on a new thread for today. Thanks for your help!

Oh, I didn't realize the font was small on my SS. I will see if I can change it.

Barbara, don't worry about the font. It's simple enough for me to use Control+ to make the font on pages bigger.
